No - still idiots!

An inconvenience, but I'll be working from home, sadly others are not so lucky.

Commisserations Londoners - I rather hoped the union stranglehold was a thing of the past and we'd all realised strikes make life a lot worse.

Here's hoping the new ballot restrictions under new legislation get rid of this stupidity where 20 per cent of total membership in favour can call a strike.

Can't think what Jeremy Corbyn would do to help matters!

Jubilee is already. They just need a driver there to read the paper (agreement with union)

It won't be long hopefully before the entire network is like this.

So what does this driver want paid to read the paper - surely his duties and responsibilities have been diminished therefore he can't expect the same pay. If he wants to continue at the same pay level then he needs to move on to another career where duties and responsibilities command the pay he feels he requires.

If however he is happy to spend all day reading the paper then he must accept that its the life of a dummy and he is paid as such.

I'm his biggest fan at the minute, hoping he gets elected Labour leader by a landslide.

...and then that will set the left back years, and common sense can rule that little bit longer

This reminds me of Back to the Future film.

When someone asks Marty McFly who is president in 1988 he says"Ronald Reagan". To which the wag replies "and who's Vice President - Jerry Lewis"

You will always need a member of staff on the train even if they don't drive it, even docklands do, and yeah sack them all, let's see how long it is before the country goes broke as it takes about a year to train new drivers so no tube for the next yeah, I'm up for that as I never go near the tube

Yes you need staff, however do you need someone on Train driver wages AND pension doing the job?

Does the wage and pension match the new skill set?

If a driver is not required, then lower the wage and pension.

If there weren't in a union and wages dictated by market forces

They wouldnt get 50 plus k

& its the the customers who lose out

Both lack of service and increase prices

I disagree. I would think all human tasks required to run the train could be automated within a few years if not already. The constant striking on the tube does nothing but hasten the removal of those jobs in my mind. The tube staff should be doing everything they can to lend a human element to the experience which would be much more difficult to replace

agreed I'd rather a computer (programmed correct of course) the DLR has managed for a number of decades (x3?) they don't get tired, drunk, open the wrong doors and need a huge fat pension. But they can be taken over by skynet

Indeed I didn't see many pickets with the union brothers either, probably enjoying the weather down the boozer as I would

My office was very quiet most WFH, many people took the bus which in London is excellent

Boris has been pushing driverless trains hard for a while. Won't be quick though they don't replace tubes that often and despite what you think of wages a whole new fleet + all the costs to make sure it works etc will be monumental.

I went in for a meeting and got back to Kings X at 7.30 ish fine, couldn't really tell anything was happening.
