Blow by! Video attached

If someone can email me who’s really knowledgeable about the f30 N47 that would be great. I think I have major blow by issues. I have a video. Please take a look. Is there suppose to be positive pressure in the sump like that?

Oh, wow, that is significant. I tried that on mine, there is certainly air flowing from the crankcase. I also noticed if I remove the oil cap, the air will blow from there. It has been like that since new, as our diesels with their increased compression do have more blow by that a gasser would. However, mine never spewed oil. Is your oil level within limits? I can see if it were overfilled maybe, but that definitely does not happen on mine. Just air coming out.

So I changed my oil and put 6L. I checked the book and it says 5.5L. So I’m half a L more. Can that be it!?

It's actually 5.2L, 5.5qts. You could try using a pump and taking out some oil out of the dipstick port to see if that fixes it.

I agree with FaRKle! I have never put more than 5 liters and maybe another 300 mL from 6th bottle. With the fact that our engines have a dipstick, you don't ever need to guess. Just fill 5 liters, start engine for 30 seconds, shut it off and let stand for 5 minutes. Check level and add until almost max. The oil level will rise overnight as oil drips back down. If you put 6 liters, you are well over the max. And that is your issue.

When dealers were doing "free" oil changes, they would almost always overfill. I would use a Mityvac syringe with aquarium line attached to it to suck out 200-300 mL. Overfilling can affect integrity of gaskets and create mayhem you're seeing.

Thank you guys for all the info! I have a vampire pump to take oil samples with. I am going to suck out a Liter today!

Looks like videos are the way to go to show issues! Stand by for more!

That looks a lot like "splash"-by, but to be fair, I have never ran the engine while pulling the dipstick.
