I'd say yours is not linked to the OP's: different engine types, yours has EGR, etc.

The worst its been is when i got the DME and took it to the dealer and they said it was the vent valve and i replaced it and the issue went away but its back. Plan on taking it back to the dealer and see what they say this time. Strange thing is i have no cel or anything. Don't feel like giving bmw another $180 for diagnosis but i'm over it at this point. Mite take it to a local mechanic first and see if they can diagnosis it first. This and an issue with my window directional switch button being stuck in one position causing my left side mirror to pan out and make it difficult to see out of are my only current issues. Soon have it all taken care of though.
You should get a dongle and obdfusion (app) or something. I'm near-ish...happy to read your codes. How many miles? You do plugs, etc. since you got it?

Thanks for offering your help man. When you say you're near-ish, what do you mean? Because I live in Guatemala (Central America) hehe.

For those who have been kind enough to try and assist and suggest, here's an update:

A BMW mechanic (not from de stealership) found that my oil has water-ish color so he said I need to replace the oil heat exchanger and its corresponding gasket because that "could be" the reason I'm getting this sputtering.

This parts had been ordered from ECS Tuning (still waiting for them to arrive):

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/11428585624/

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/11428591462/

I'm not an expert so I'm giving this theory a chance. Will let you know the outcome once they get replaced.

And, I've also ordered a brand new wastegate (still pending for arrival)

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/11657850453/

Wish me luck

But the stuttering remains.....

I've told that it might be the Fuel Pump Control Unit (part number 16149494391 for the B48 engine), but, I don't have any codes showing that the module has a problem. Should this part throw a code if it is malfunctioning or could it be having problems without throwing any codes?

Thanks for the help as I've been trying to resolve this stuttering and hesitation when I WOT between 900-1000 rpms for six months now

I'm having this exact same problem with my 2013 328i n20. It's stuttering and shaking then hits a limp mode with a drivetrain malfunction showing up. I've had the valve cover replaced(gasket included, the whole nine yards in the valve cover kit), spark plugs changed, oil change done, two fuel injectors replaced, and the problem persists. I've had three places diagnose it and they've found nothing visual with one place being a BMW dealer and the other two being indie high rated BMW specialists. It's at 109,000 miles at the moment and I'm simply going to sell it before it becomes an endless money pit… Good luck tho man

When you change the oil collect a sample and send it in to blackstone labs. That will tell you definitively what is in it and reveal any other potential problems.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I won't be able to do that as I don't live in the USA.

Does your problem appears exactly as mine? I mean, only when WOT between 900 - 1000 RPMs? Mine is not shaking, only the sputtering when WOT and only when the engine is between that RPM range, otherwise I don't get any problem nor drivetrain malfunction.

Thanks for the good wishes

Hi Alex,

I'm kinda late to this thread, but did you solve your issue? I have the exact symptom like yours (no CEL), can't figure it out what the issue is for several weeks. I don't have issue with acceleration but only when I release the gas pedal let say at 55 mph and let the car run by itself until rpm drops to 1000 from 2500-3000 then I feel a sensation of pulsation/hesitation/engine surge and rpm needle bounces up and down couple times and eventually it settles down at a proper idle (only see this behavior at 1000 rpm and my car is completely stock except replacing the oil cooler with Mosselman). I replaced plugs, coils, clean MAF, MAPs, and swapped solenoids and also replaced one of the MAP with a new one, but nothing changes (may be it helps a bit, but the symptom still exists). It's a very annoying experience and it just starts this weird behavior a few months ago. Btw, I'm planning to bring my car to the shop next week and hopefully will find out the root cause. Thanks.

One person mentioned the PCV - BMW put out an extended warranty on this part for the B58

PCV is a common issue with these engines - worth a shot if BMW will replace it for free
