This is awesome. Great job explaining everything. I would highly recommend adding a link to the video on YouTube where they build the atm harness since they also have the part numbers for the connectors there. One other thing to add, instead of looping the gps through the whole car, you should be able to just add a fakra cable from the atm to the shark fin on the roof under the headliner. This way you don't have to route another cable all over BUT if you already are doing the Ethernet wire from atm to head unit, your method works perfectly. Also for those who are hesitant to solder the dc-dc converter for the display, I found a really nice one on mouser that works flawlessly and is very stable: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail...2Jj6d99w%3D%3D

There is also a guy in the UK who makes ATM harnesses: https://www.ebay.com/itm/16333260576...oAAOSwaG1b0DxV

I have never purchased one so I can not vouch for the quality but they seem reasonably priced.

I looked into purchasing the OEM GPS cable from a 18 440i coupe for a more OEM retrofit but I thought that the extension cable would be easier to remove from the car when I sell it in five years or so.

I perfectly hardwired the evo in my F10 and I was cursing up a store when I needed to remove it when the engine popped.

I purchased a harness from topdonas when I did my retrofit and can vouch for him. He was very responsive to questions I had before and during the install and also sold me the FSC codes I needed for very cheap. If you contact him on the side he will also sell you the emulator required (apparently he cannot list that item for sale in the US).

That is good to hear since I was only able to purchase my car-systems adapter since I knew a guy.

This is great, really useful, thanks.

Going to retrofit Evo to my 2014 F30 when I find one at a decent price. Only problem I've got is that finding a matched pair of Evo and ATM is difficult, but I can buy them separately but then they of course have mismatched VINs. I'm assuming that I can get the VIN from the ATM then use an FSC kit for the ATM's VIN to install onto the Evo which changes that to match and then I just need to use it in my car with an emulator.

More reading to be done, but thanks again.

That is the process in a nutshell, the key is that you should not ever have the NBT Evo and ATM installed in your car at the same time UNTIL you have coded the VIN of the ATM into the Evo and installed the emulator. Otherwise you run the risk of bricking one of the two. Changing the VIN is done entirely though e-sys, the FSC has nothing to do with this portion of the install. The FSC is only needed to unlock navigation and other apps within the Evo.

Ah, great, that's what I wasn't sure on. I'll make sure to code the Evo before I even connect the ATM. Thanks

The emulator is the critical piece there, I believe you can have the Evo and ATM installed before you re-code the VIN as long as the emulator is in place.

Thanks for this! If I purchase an ATM and Head Unit from the same donor car and the owner previously hadn't registered for Connected Drive services, could the remote services be used on my 2012 F30? Things like the Remote Lock and stuff?

Nickco43 I see that you have ConnectedDrive weather working, however, did you get remote services working also (lock, unlock, etc.)? If so, did you have to provide continuous power to the CAN filter to have the car talk to the ATM after it went to sleep.

May I have his contact? I have an f10 with CIC that I'd like to add an NBT EVO idrive with ATM to.
What are the physical things I'd need Thanks guys

Not sure if you still check the forums, but I'm looking to understand how you wired the microphone 2 up to avoid the SOS error. Does anyone know? I poked around ISTA and couldn't find the wiring diagram for microphone 2.

Also, +1 for Topdonas1 on eBay, I purchased a harness from him and its working great.

I've seen the video several times before when I did my own CIC -> NBT Evo retrofit, did you have a specific question?

Yes you need VIN Cleared on CAN2 going into the head unit.

When you change the ATM, does the VIN on Connected Drive on your phone change to the donor car's VIN?

No, from the perspective of the app it is an entirely different car. You'll add the donor HU like its a new car.
