BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Afternoon all,

Hope you are keeping well.

Got quite bit of interest on other sub forum. So decided to create new thread. As title states after lots of deliberation, pulled the trigger on a Moshammer rear wide arch kit.

Prior to this, did a lot of internet searching lots of phone calls to multiple bodyshops about what i was looking to achieve. Some wouldn't touch a project like this on what is a relatively new car.

Was keen to make it look as oem as possible and work with existing lines of the car plus the added complications of the rear door, we came to the conclusion that an off the shelf kit would ultimately be the best solution.

However, the options for a kit like this, were in truth, very limited indeed. I came across Moshammer, whom are quite well known in Germany for kits for Porsche and Mercs. A few calls but in honest the company weren't overly helpful either. But decided to take a bit of a risk and placed an order.

Car has been in the bodyshop for a few weeks now. Annoyingly, due to covid not be able to visit. But bodyshop have been great documenting the whole process to date.

Just some taster early photos. There is a huge amount of work to do, filling, smoothing etc. Will add some more photos and content on next post.

Cheers

Did consider some BBS on a 10.5 inch or 10inch.

Have also bought a 35mm ACS spacer adapter 10 bolt system on thought could run my current.

However, Just bought an set of 437m on ebay for good money as an option. Probably add a 20mm spacer on the rear still.

This photo was with a 20mm +'10mm spacer stack just to help get some idea of space....

Probably look to up tyre size, to a 235/40/19 and 275/35/19 to give the rear a little more girth. 😉

Was a bit unsure seeing the bits just stuck on but seeing the filled flares it does look rather good. Will be keeping an eye on this thread so please keep posting updates and pictures 👍

Opening this thread for the first time. From the title I was simply curious about was going on, but now I see this is being done to a wagon, it is way more interesting and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Will the car stay silver or will you paint it another color once the body work is done?

I agree looked very bitty before. Different colours on the kit looked rather naff. Like one of those stick on Chinese wide arch kits with rivets.

Really starting to come together once it is being filled and smoothed. I know it is taking some time.

Having some Vented front fenders fitted as well. As i think just doing rears would look out of proportion. The fronts aren't any wide, but i think it will compliment the rears more.

Thanks for the comments

Thank you.

I wanted to share some details, as there is so little information about this sort of conversion.

Will be staying silver. I like the colour and contrast with black areas of the car and M performance kit.

But also considering how much i spent on this car over the last 12 month, a full respray would been a few £.

Keep you posted. Checking in next week, so will take some photos need to work out what i do with tyres.

Went for quick visit on Friday dropped off some new rubber..

Car is really coming along, looking epic. Was in quite a few pieces, 2 doors off, bumper, fenders all off. Was being primed, totally forgot to take some snaps.

The guys decided it best, to re spray the bumper. At this rate will only be bonnet and front bumper left untouched. 😜

Hopefully another week and should finished. So excited to see it finished.

OP, how long has it been? Your first post said a couple of weeks before the past couple of weeks.

Looks great, seems like it's taking forever. Or is that by design (IE they work when they have nothing else to do so it's cheaper?)

Hi guys,

It has been some time, i agree. This last week though has got me really excited and for the first point, really got me conscious of the time etc...

TBH i never an agreed a fixed timeline on this with the bodyshop. We managed to keep the budget capped because i said was flexible so could fit it in around other priority work.

I also said i would prefer them to take their time and get it perfect. Worked well as working from home.

So please don't use my example to give you an idea of actual timings. Happily find out for you, once completed. But i know it has been more work than the guys originally thought.

It was going into paint this week so the finish line is in sight 🙏😉👍😜
