Is it worth the extra $3,500 to go 335?

About my needs:
1. I drive 25-30K per year. Almost entirely highway miles. Need reliability.
2. I want something quick and fun to drive.
3. Would like to have a little growl to the car... sound sporty but not obnoxious.
4. Looking to get 4 years out of the car.

Thank you for your input!

I have owned both a 328i xDrive and a 335i RWD M-Sport:
  • 328i is better balanced (closer to 50/50 front rear weight)
  • 335i has better strait line performance without a doubt
  • 328i mileage is 15% better (I averaged 30-32 on 328i vs 25-26 on335i same commute)
  • xDrive is very soft suspension, I went with RWD and winter tires for better drive, if you could get the DHP (Dynamic Handling Package) would take care of soft feeling suspension issue
  • 335i is heavier and faster, 328i is lighter and handles better
  • 335i has a better sounding engine, 328i sound like a diesel
  • Get a Sport or M-Sport for the 18" wheels and trim upgrades
  • Drive both, either would be great cars
  • 328i with the Dinan tune could be best of both worlds, close HP to 335i with light suspension and mileage
  • Options I recommend: Sport or M-sport, Premium, Technology & Cold Weather Package (if you get 328i must have the lighting package, standard on 335i)

Can't go wrong either way.

Bought a 2014 328i M Sport with 29K miles from CarMax about two weeks ago. Drove it for 3 days. Nice handling, but power was "notchy." Exercised the 5-day return policy and picked up a 2015 335i with 32K miles from CarMax. Still has some factory warranty left. Having driven a 1995 Corvette for a number of years, the 328i seemed "lacking." Glad I made the switch, but as always, your results may vary!

335 for better sound & performance. Also resale value. My two cents
