A question about the F30 UK Head-Up Display
Would appreciate if anyone who has HUD help me on my order..
I am trying to finalise my options and the HUD looks amazing with the navigation instructions. I know in the UK HUD is a standalone option, so if I select HUD, will I get navigation instructions? My local dealer insists I have to add other navigation packages...the cars they have has no HUD, so I am not that convinced, he may be cross selling....I do not want to add other navigation packages, which is so expensive.... Has anyone in the UK order just the HUD and able to get navigation? If £800 is just to display speed data and no navigation I will not consider it.... Thanks. |

The navigation package include the GPS, map database, and audio for navigation.
The HUD is simply a driver oriented visual display. tl;dr - yes, you need nav. |

The HUD also displays Speed Limit Info, if you have that option.
It doesn't give you anything extra, it just projects onto the screen the features you have selected. |

HUD doesnt give you anything more than the iDrive or cluster panel gives.
all it does is saves you from having to move your eyes around. is it worth it? nah

HUD is awesome - and because I wanted HUD mine is the first car I've had with built-in satnav.
The satnav is overpriced, clunky, and generally not up to the standard I'd expect for the cost. But equally, even if you could have satnav instructions on the HUD, it's not clear enough to replace an actual display showing you a map. The HUD is great for quickly checking when your next junction is or whatever but for complex junctions and roundabouts it's no use; the graphics are too simplistic (unless it's had a MAJOR update in the last 18 months). |
