warranty for "like new" car

Hey everyone,

So I just purchased my first BMW and my first convertible, so the learning curve is steep right now. I'm scouring the forums and finding answers to various questions, but need help on this one.

The car is a 2020 430i hardtop convertible with 10k miles (because Florida...). It's basically a brand new 4yo car. It clearly has been kept in a garage for those 4 years, as well.

There's A LOT of moving parts on that roof, so a 5 year extended warranty @ $3k seemed like a good idea (taking it to 9yo). Upon getting home, reviewing the paperwork, and making some calls, I eventually learned that the only parts of that roof that are covered are the motor and switch (google tells me this could be a $1200 job, if necessary). Nothing else. In particular, none of those many, many, moving parts.

Also covered by the warranty is a one-time brake pads and rotors replacement.

With a car with this little use, do you have any thoughts on usefulness of the warranty? Is there a reasonable likelihood of normal wear and tear brakeage in the next 5 years to make this worth it? The car will not be a daily driver. Probably more of a weekend use with occasional weekday errand running (it's my wife's car and she's a remote worker).

Personally, I can see brake work, but not much else. I have 30 days to cancel (probably 20 left) and am leaning that direction; would just like a sanity check from folks who know these cars better than I do.

THANKS!!

Google 'extended warranty'. Most of those who have them never use them. Dealers love them as they're cash cows. As with all extended warranties they're betting the car won't have problems, you're betting that it will, and where gambling is concerned the house always wins.
