So the fog light housing on my Sapphire Black 328i is Blue...?

I don't know how I didn't notice this two weeks ago when I bought the car, but I am guessing this isn't correct?

Also, there is a piece on the rear bumper that is blue as well? Looks to be Imperial Blue.

I am assuming this was a factory error?

Pics to follow shortly.

Anybody think I should go to the dealer first or just contact BMW NA since this seems to be an internal error with the manufacturer? I assume my bumper to bumper warranty would cover these to be replaced...?

I wouldn't think it is under warranty. It's an error in the part of the manufacturer.

Correct. Sorry maybe warranty was the wrong word.

But since it was a Q/C error, don't you think BMW NA would address this and offer to swap out for the correct part?

I mean if they had installed a red bumper, obviously it would have been noticed easier, and Im sure they would replace it.

It's a sport line so that piece isn't painted. It's gloss black as is the little piece on the rear bumper. In certain light or when it's dirty and has like a film on it it makes that bluefish hue. If it's real bad in person then the high gloss black faded prematurely and will be covered under warranty. It's not an error just a crappy trim piece. My car when it had sports line bumpers would do the same thing from time to time. Especially when wet. Trust me it's not a mixup. Sport line has gloss black fog surrounds, side mirrors, and rear cross trim. Not painted imperial blue.

I have a Sapphire black Sportline. And there is no blueish hue.

My car is BSM and from time to time it would have the blueish hue. Not always though.

The trim pieces are black. Gloss black and black sapphire metallic are very different colors. That's what you are seeing combined with the strange phenomenon of the blue in certain lighting. No mismatched pieces or pieces from an active hybrid.

Correct, mine is a sports line and is not a hybrid. So are these pieces correct or not? Lol.

I had the same thing with my sportline. The high gloss sportline trim turns blue/purple.

Had it replaced under warranty

mine are black, my friend's active hybrid 3 looks like yours do. We just had the cars side by side a few days ago and was one of the first things we noticed. So, if the AH3 isn't supposed to have that hue either, then he needs to go to dealer and start a case.

I've seen the blue multiple times. My sportline bumpers are in the shed now and I just looked at them. Black as can be. Don't know what causes it but mine was black most of the times. Still shitty pieces though.
