Why do you think that they blacked out the lower area in the picture, which is the area that matters the most ? Because the car front becomes too close to the ground after lowering ! This is what I noticed from the day I saw the F30 in pictures, and then it was confirmed when I saw it in person.

Also look at this picture from this thread:

Lowering the F30 = driveability fail.

Shame on everyone putting such ugly a** rims on his BMW.
Original is always way more classy.

It shouldn't cost that much to install.... unless you are going to a dealership lol. I recommend doing it yourself. It's a hassle, but with 8 hours, a couple of spring compressors, air tools, and a friend, its do able. Otherwise find a good indy shop, and get it done for around 400 at worst

My e90 is a lot lower than that and still perfectly drivable. Just take driveways and speedbumps carefully and at an angle

Just do a search on Google Images and you will see that even when dropped on H&R Race (which is very low) the front end bumper (and even the side skirts) of the e90 is quite a bit higher than on the F30:

Agreed whole heartedly. Most people who put aftermarket rims have ricer genes. Especially, when wheel spacers are involved. This is because most aftermarket rims just suck design-wise...that makes up about 99% of the rims.

Although the BMW OEM 20" performance black rims/tires with red ring looks ghetto. :

IMHO, the best looking rims are from the M-sport version of the F30. Especially, the 19" ones...

/rant & let's not high-jack the entire thread with rims discussion.

You couldn't be more wrong logically.

First, it's different tastes to different people. What do you like does not mean that others like. And the other way around.

Second, and most important, the OEM wheels are made by human designers. These people are not wheel Gods. They can screw up some wheel designs big time, as well as they can create impressive wheel designs. There are other wheel designers working for other companies like BBS, OZ, etc. making just as nice looking wheels. BMW does NOT own the monopoly on good wheel designers. It wouldn't be logical.

And third, there are some people who are plain BMW worshipers. They cannot see anything good outside what BMW does.

wow. If I had thrown all the savings I had during/after university into a car, I'd be hoping my parents wouldn't kill me, not asking them to chip in 13 grand!

Oh...didn't say that the OEM black wheels look ghetto? Ofcourse there are good designers, but OEMs tends to have a very good knack at designing wheels. They hire good designers (IMO, Europeans in general have good taste for design - for e.g. Danish furniture). Ofcourse they are not gods, and I actually hate some oem wheels, but majority of them don't scream attention. BBS wheels are not bad, but not great imho. There are a couple that look good to me. But I am talking about what you'd find in the last few pages of wheel ads in a car magazine. *PUKE*.

Now, don't come back with an argument that affinity towards good design is subjective. Yes and No. Good designers tend to come to an agreement. And that is not completely subjective. Same thing applies to any art - paintings, photography, music, poetry, etc... good stuff always rises to the top. That said, I am about to refute my own argument with Justin Bieber...now we all can agree that shit sucks, although it is popular lol.

Peace...all of this is partially subjective. Walk in peace bro.

It is not just the wheels.

Isn't it obvious that original parts fit the best because they origin directly from the designers who have also designed the car itself?

I find it kind of disrespectful to replace original parts by some awfully designed tuner ones. Of course there are also nice wheels and so on but IMO nothing beats the orginal ones.

my roommate bought eibach springs to lower his 650i for 300$. He found out afterward that it was $800-1000 to get them installed....

so they're still sitting in his room.
Wait, the man has enough money for a 650i but not enough to pay $1200 for labor?! Um, can he even afford the car?!

I installed lower springs in my 2010 WRX and ended up replacing with coilovers because all it did was lower my car 1.4 inches, but drove like crap especially when you hit a bump during a high speed corner - actually felt unstable!
i agree with you. But springs are ok for daily use. Not everyone can afford coilover.

I wonder how the lowering springs cope with the Sport Line F30s shipping with the adaptive dampers. This would actually be my first concern. Would the dampers have to be re-programmed?

I'm really interested to see if they will bring out an M-Sport X-Drive with the adaptive dampers and if it will still retain the ride height of the regular RWD models. I just hope BMW doesn't shoot themselves in the foot again with this. We need an S4 rival and the 335 x-drive cannot do it without suspension upgrades.

We spoke with H&R on these springs today. They are still at least a month out by their estimate, as least for the USA market. We are trying to get a set early by air for you guys to give some feeback and photos of the stance

That is a tough call. For me, I've already experience the m3 and I am ready to move on.

It is fine. It is almost like the e9x edc suspension. the only difference is that the f30 will set the dampening according to what mode you are on. The E9x m3 you can set the dampening to whatever you want in any mode.

No recoding needed.

Nice man. Although we have the car lowered, I still prefer coilovers over any springs. I had springs on the m3 for 2 years and bought KW coilovers after. I wish I could have went with KW coilover to begin with.

I prefer the coilovers for more aggressive driving and the track no doubt, but for a car thats a year-round all climate car ( we have winters here, haha ) Springs are a nice alternative for many of our customers that want no fuss lowering.
