Search using google local search then message to car, which will be picked up by BMW Apps. When you get into the car the message is there with phone number and address of your destination and you just have to put "start guidance". |

Launch control is the only reason I would get the 14, for me it's the biggest plus and it launches the F30 into the future. In a couple years time cars without launch control will be like cars without remote access now. Always think of the future

With the new nav, do you get a better resolution in nav mode ? During my test driving on the '13 I found the resolution in nav mode to be really lame especially after being used to the high-res screens of modern smartphones. It looked blurry like they had to upsample the nav resolution to meet the new screen's specs.

Mmh I don't think I agree with you. I mean, how often do you plan on launching your car at traffic lights???

As soon as I turn my car on, if I press the "1" preset to call my friend, it dials instantly. Those are grossly exaggerated claims of timing you are making. Is it better/newer? Yes. Is it faster? Yes. Is the difference black and white, night and day? Certainly not as dramatic as you are making it ... |

Even on the parking camera delay, 20 seconds? really? I press the button to start the car and put the car in reverse and immediately the camera is displaying in the nav screen. I don't even know if it's 2 seconds as I've never once put the car in reverse and "waited" for it to display. Maybe if someone is referring to swaping cameras (overhead to just behind or side view?), but even that is a 1-2 second delay only. I'd say 5 seconds would be exaggerated, much less 20... |

if you intend to drive the car for like 8 years, buy the 2013.
If you are going to trade it in by 2016 or 17, get the 2014. I bought my 2012 off the lot while 2013's were starting production - I saved a TON of money, that I later put towards mod's listed below. I couldn't be happier - and have 100k factory warranty/maintenance (as part of the "off the lot" negotiations/deal).

I also have the same "dilemma" :-/ and am a bit confused on the actual differences in the navigation systems in the F30 '13 vs 14.
Based on the following thread: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=716464 The Nov '12 production F30 includes the updated (faster) hardware with the exception of the idrive touch. " Intel processor 1.3Ghz vs Renesas 600Mhz 1GB RAM (vs 512Mb) 8GB flash (vs 512Mb) Nvidia graphics (vs Fujitsu) 200GB hard drive (vs 80Gb)" However in other posts I'm reading that the '14 F30 model includes new hardware upgrades?

The thread I linked describes the upgrades made to the 2012 F30 model.
My question is what are the hardware upgrades on the 2014 model? Some people claim it's only the idrive touch, others state differently.

Upgraded nav software, updated iDrive software, iDrive touch, and the computer hardware is improved, so apparently the software runs "faster".

Man, to be honest, I've never owned a car with a Nav, let alone a beautiful idrive. I don't see the touch tech or the faster processor as being game changers anymore. Nevertheless, they're absolutely awesome upgrades, but just not worth the extra $150 a month. (Yea, I talked to my dealer and he basically told me it'd be $150 more a month for the EXACT same specs on a 2014 model). Needless to say, I'm not considering his deal

WOW! $150?!
Did you get any breakdown (Residual, MF, etc)? My '08 535i has the older CCC system which is incredibly slow.

I had a feeling he was trying to work me so I stopped talking to him and didn't give him another chance to explain. He had many chances. He tried to, but once I sensed that he was beating around the bush, I fled, lol

In terms of Nav, there really does seem to be two distinctly different types of people: You've got those who love integration even though Navi is still very much an evolving technology and you've got those who couldn't care less because a portable or a smart phone will always (in the current fast-paced evolution of these system) be more advanced and capable. Personally, I love integration, but I also understand that OEM Navi systems are somewhat ... "imperfect" and those with higher expectations may very well be disappointed. (At least it's not freakin' touch screen) |
