Change from 325d to new model 320d

Decided to trade in the old 325d and was considering the new model 320 d, both auto. Was not sure whether I would miss the two extra cylinders that the old 325 had and did not think that a fifteen minute test drive would be enough. So after shopping around I found out that I could hire a 320d auto from Thrifty car hire for less than £60 for the day. The car I got was a 320d luxury with navigation and after a 350 trip to Suffolk and back, I was convinced.
I was so impressed with the car that last week I collected a May 2012 320d sport, in glacier silver and 7000 miles, from my local dealer.
I am still playing with the I drive and seem to find something different from the old model every day.
Have found a wealth of info from this site already and since I have recently retired I will be logging in often.http://www.f30post.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

What a good idea to hire a car before you make your final decision. At least you can play with it until all of your questions are answered.

I thought most dealerships ofter an extended test drive where you can keep it for a few hours? Seems a lot of people on here have managed that.

I've been given a car for a day and overnight to return.

I think when I get my car I'll stick some white stickers over the number plate. That should solve the gatso problem.

Nice looking car. I imagine the newer 320d isn't much of a difference speed wise vs an older 325d so you probably didn't lose much power wise but gained a lot more mpg.

As you say, little difference in power and to a degree I believe the eight speed box helps. What I could not believe was the ride quality, the smoothness of the auto box - its a completely different animal from the previous model. With road tax at £30 a year and lower insurance, it was a no brainer.
