Tyres at home - EDIT Tyres on the drive damaged my car!
Any recommendations?
My dad's mate owned a mot and tyre place until recently when he retired which means that little bonus of getting cars through their mot without cats etc is now gone Anyway my Mercedes needs 2 rear boots, cba finding a new place so thinking of black circles or tyres on the drive and so on, any experience or recommendations? Seconded.
Two new tyres on the Sorento a few weeks ago. Tyresonthedrive were competitively priced and did a good job.

Yes, but an acquisition and operate separately to the main centres. Had a new tyre fitted a fortnight back, great service and the price was astonishingly good.

I've always taken the car to shops to have the tyres changed believing that the guys in there have better equipment than ones who come out to you. ?

Agreed, most of them are self-employed franchisees with an element of pride in their work. I've used TyesOnTheDrive and BlackCircles with no issues.

I've used Kwikfit mobile on my past few M cars with no issues whatsoever.

Another one for Kwikfit - they are comming to my house tomorrow to change a flat tyre. Used them before with no issues and they offer an easy booking service online.

Surprised there are so many people on here who get round to needing new tyres on a car, surely you all swap them before that happens

I suppose it depends on things like tyre size and brand but out of interest I just had a look on their website because we're about to change the tyres on Mrs JNW1's Mini. As it happens they have no availability on the tyres I want but at a quick glance the prices of those that are available look a bit steep to me; for example, if I just wanted to replace like for like with Michelin Primacy 3's they're wanting just under Ł150 a corner (25% more than Blackcircles!).

Ask them if they’ll torque your nuts up. 😀
They will probably say they use a battery driver which doesn’t over tighten like the pneumatic devices. My experience found that that’s b@llocks. Couldn’t shift them when coming to put the winter wheels on. |

Another vote for Kwikfit mobile.
Puncture on the Tesla last week. Company car so had to use Kwikfit (gulp!), but the guy did a great job and we had a great chat about 90s Fast Fords. As others have said above, it's clearly down to the individual fitter and how competent he/she is. So, therefore, a total lottery!

That's really bad, I hope they're covering repair costs.

No idea yet, rang them and they've given me a customer relations address so I've emailed them and now waiting for a response.

They’ve just emailed me apologising profusely saying it was unacceptable and the technician has been spoken to by his manager.
They said I can take it for a refurb at the place of my choice and they’ll either refund me or pay the garage directly. I think I’ll take it to the local independent. Better than nothing I suppose |
