HARTGE N20 F30 28i Engine Software Tune Yields +45 HP / +48 TQ for F30, F10, F25, E89
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com HP gain = 45 hp Trq gain = 48 ft-lbs The Hartge 'Engine Conversion' is a bespoke tuning module that plugs in ahead of the engine computer on the wiring harness. It has factory-style plugs to connect in-line with the water temp sensor, fuel rail pressure, turbo boost pressure sensors, turbo wastegate valve, intake camshaft sensor, 12V power and ground. The module then sends a modified signal to the engine computer allowing it to increase boost by varying amounts depending on load, engine speed, and other factors. All of the factory safeguards remain in place, including overload protection, warm-up protocols, and the engine tuning is unchanged below 70% throttle to preserve all factory driveability and emissions certification*. One of the key advantages of this type of 'piggyback' system is that it is unaffected by factory BMW updates and service. If BMW updates the computer software to fix any small bugs or issues, the Hartge performance upgrade is not lost or overwritten. This is key on a new model like the F30 because BMW is constantly releasing small software updates. All of the factory diagnostics and service access is retained. This item fits the following BMWs: 2012+ F30 BMW 328i - Sedan 2012+ F10 BMw 528i 2011+ F25 BMW X3 xDrive28i 2012+ E89 BMW Z4 sDrive28i VIA http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-16...20-engine.aspx

well beside the fact its only for the 328, this looks awesome
... oh wait, its $1600! HA, sorry but IMO thats insane. i doubt BMW's PPK will cost that much (and yes i know it wont make 45hp, but a warranty is a warranty)

335I F30 piggy back
It seems there are 3 venders offering piggyback for 335i f30 -2012 model
And oa close look, it seems they are all the same unit. 3 venders on the internet www.TurnerMotorsport.com http://www.kelleners-sport.de www.hartge.de and itlooks like the unit is manufactured by hartge.de I request any member who has installed this in his car please Clarify on the following which will help all others who are keen to to go for an engine chip tuning ( piggy back) what is the stock boost and what is the increase in boost after installing the piggy back ? Stock torque is 400 Nm but the piggy back suppliers are claiming it to be increased to 480 Nm ( you can find some graph on some web sites) Clarification needed is that by all chance bmw should be locking the maximum torque to 400 Nm electronically in the base program of the stock ecu to protect the transmition system, then how can the piggy back increase torque to 480 Nm ? It is also very easy for bmw to add a control code to detect if the base line values of boost etc etc has gone over the limited parameter ( all suppliers are claiming the bmw will not be able to detect if a piggy back is installed ... the sporadic boost should be recorded in the ecu memory) I am not part of any vender offering any kind of modification but my concern is about the warranty issues any one can face by installing a wrong piggy back. Clarification on the above issue with proofs will be highly appreciated so I too can start tuning my car with peace of mind. thanks in advance |

I am also wondering how this modification will affect warranty? I would rather choose BMW Performance Engine upgrade before any other, just to keep BMW's warranty. With the BMW M Performance Power Kit for the BMW 320d, you get these numbers, 147 kW, 420 Nm compared to stock 135 kW and 380 Nm. BMW also installs a new control unit and also a larger charge-air cooler. I hope BMW release a Power Kit for the 328i engine.

Everybody should read the terms of the warranty. It guarantees against defects in materials or workmanship on the car supplied by bmw. They are under no obligation, legal or otherwise, to fix a defect on a car that is not as supplied by the manufacturer. While they have the burden of proving that a modification caused a failure, who among us really has the resources to rebut bmw's engineers on this point?
Mod responsibly and if something breaks on your car don't try to sneak a warranty claim past bmw. Assume that any tune will void parts of your warranty...if that makes you vervous then perhaps you should not mod your car. |

If you're going to put a non-factory tune on your car, you have to be prepared to wave any warranty claim remotely associated with it. I think people often forget you have to "pay to play". |

But there are no performance upgrades for the 328i.
The only upgrades are for the 335 from what I see on BMW Brochures and what I have read elsewhere. So if you have a 328, you will need to get third party performance parts. |

That video is dramatic! What a difference, and I think the money is justified concidering the r/d and the huge increase in power.

Somewhat unrelated but looking around the N20 section of this site I am very suprised we haven't seen some modified cat backs. If I had one I would have at least tried a muffler delete or maybe had a custome job done by now Get on the stick 4 pot guys, show us what those cars can do!

Great Mod for 328 owners....
but for to-be future 3 series owners... why buy the 328i and add this? when you can go straight for the 335i and get the awesome sound at the same time?! But this is a great mod for the 328i i must agree... Price wise, i am not so sure.

If something goes wrong take it off and then go into the dealer, the dealer can't assume you had a tune or piggyback if it's not there, I had a tune on my 335 and took it in all the time and no one said a thing.

^ agreed, impressive results, but crazy price and I would be worried about longevity...
I'm sure many will try it though and we will see!
