Replacement tire tread depth difference
I recently had to get a rear tire replaced due to damage and so now have 3 partially worn tires and 1 new one (replacement is same model and size as the damaged one). The tread depth of the new rear is 9/32 while the other rear tire is about 6.25/32. Fronts are both at 8/32. Car has 19" factory staggered wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (225/40-19 front and 255/35-19 rear). Car is also xDrive.
Do I risk damaging the drive train due to the slightly larger diameter difference of this 1 new rear tire that is roughly 3/32 larger? If not, does it make sense to have 3-4 psi more in the new rear for a short amount of time to try to wear it down a bit faster? |

I still don't like running tires like that. I either
1. Buy a pair of tires and sell the one good tire, or 2. Buy a good used tire That way even if it doesn't affect the drivetrain, you know you'll have even and predictable grip in the dry/wet. |
