Man, you just saved me a lot of wrenching time. I have the same problem with replacement rack. No communication with ISTA, no EPS in ECUs list on esys. Plugged old rack, then new again and everything works just fine! Magic. Coded with esys and good to go! Thanks!

I ordered a 3rd rack, but EXACTLY the same part number as before. I jacked up the car, plugged it in, tested it from underneath and it worked! No errors.

I disconnected it and connected the one currently fitted (that previously never connected) and now that works too! No heavy steering - back to normal!

This tells me that the connections must be loose or something. Ive traced the ground and it looks fine.

So we should hopefully have this solved!

Last few questions, do I need to still code the rack as it works now with no issues? Also, do I need to initialise with ISTA and which options do I select?

Thanks again for all your help guys, so grateful.

The FSC is for servotronic only. You can code and it should work

I'm coming back with some questions

I just found this rack from 2018: 32106884402, how can i see if it is FSC free so i can put my code there? as i know if the part in newer and has fsc code programmed i can't do anything to change it.
I searched on realoem but i don't have this code in my list for my 320i rack parts, but this rack was mounted on n20 and b48 from factory as well.

It hard to know. Unless the read the actual FSC or use the donor vin to find the build date.
