After having mine in for about a week I am starting to agree with this statement. The interior is actually more refined so something more subtle such as brushed aluminum similar to the current aluminum trim would be a more understated touch.

This is about the easiest mod you can do. Don't worry about screwing it up. Pick up a trim tool set for under $20 if you don't already have one and you're set. Trim tools are a must for anything interior related; even for exterior mods like reflector removal, etc.

cheers mate, yeah I've got all that stuff, its more just the separating the button from the casing, easy enough?

It was once I figured out what's shown in the video here isn't the exact same way mine was designed. I think the newer post 2012 F30's have clips that you can pull back like in the video, but not mine, lol. Gotta pry n' hold'em in order for the button to fall out.

I like the light switch surround. Does look bare there! I have the dry carbon shifter, looks good!

Oh I've already seen roll_the_dice's snazzy blue interior and I love it. I'm going for a similar theme in my interior, just red instead of blue (not pictured are the red paddle extensions which I was inspired to get seeing roll's steering):
