I have a 2013 335i m sport with 18" staggered fit rims. My front calipers are silver/grey color. The rear look like standard calipers.....it has 0Z3B performance power package, 0337 M-SPORT package, 02VF Adaptive M Suspension ....how do i tell what brakes it has. Do i need to measure the rotors to tell ?? Or will the vin tell me?

On the 335i you can easily tell by how the rear caliper looks.

If your rear brake caliper has only one piston (looks like the following drawing), then you have the normal brakes with 340x30mm rotor front and 330x20mm in the rear

If your rear brake caliper has two pistons (looks like the following drawing), then you have the S2NHA Sport Brakes option with 370x30mm rotor front and 345x24mm in the rear

Thank you for clearing that up for me. Are the rear calipers interchangeable or stick with what it got ?

They work great but squeal a little sometimes. The dealer i bought it from did a pad slap on the front and nothing to the rear....amazing... its a certified car with a pitted windshield and groves around the edge of the rotors. But we love the car.

Well in theory you could change the rear caliper from a one piston to a two piston system.
But you would also have to change the rear rotors, the brake pads, the dust cover.

Even more you should then also change the front rotor size as I wrote.
Finally you would have a 370/345mm front/rear Sport Brake.

Just changing the rear breaks to a better one, could result in over braking on the rear axle, which is very very bad.
Don't play around with the overall brake setup! Just install a proofed "system" setup!

Anyhow, if your rear brake is noisy, a good dealer should be able to fix it.
i.e. Plan the rotor and install a set of new pads.

If you would like to install the M Performance Brake Kit, yes 400M wheels will fit and so will 403M (400M is my winter setup)

Don't forget, the Kit does not include the rear rotors. (See drawing)

I read every single post here, and checked every links and read them but still have Q's since I drive a 3.18i LCI:

I'm going to pay for that brakes:
340x30 mm front disks ( 34116792223 ) + 4 Piston M sport calipers ( 34116799465 & 34116799466 )





My Q;
I have a LCI 3.18i F30, I believe they are the same as pre-facelift F30 3.16i and uses the same parts?
So is it going to be a plug & play or do I have to change the brake lines or brake pumps or anything else?
I'm very stressed here, so any help would be appraciate, A LOT! Because they are not cheap!

Front rotor: 300x22mm (Millimeter) / Brake Caliper with 1 piston

It seems its going to fit but I can not bu sure indeed I gave al the information, now scene is ready for GURUS

You also need to replace the protection plate to match the new 340mm rotors.

It's not dangerous, but could cause uneven braking power. I see no safety risk so far. However it is not the recommended setup as ABS/DSC could act a bit different.
It is dangerous if the rear brakes have more power then the front brakes.

The Europe Version of 328i/328iX have 330mm front and also 300mm rear.
The 340mm with 4 piston calipers could have a better bite, but not so big of a difference.

Brake pipes and pad wear sensor are the same.

This post is absolutely amazing! I just picked up a 2013 328i and am very interesting in upgrading the braking system. Is there a particular resource for sourcing the retrofit kit spelled out by the RealOEM.com website or is it best to take this number (in my case 34112221445) to my local BMW dealership to obtain an estimate? Sorry for all the questions, this is my first BMW.

Basically you need this set: (see part number for different color)

Additionally order the rear disc
2x 34206797598 (as listed on that side as well)

Brakes need to be re-coded!

And don't forget! 18" or bigger wheels will be needed
(possible wheels are listed on that page as well. If you have aftermarket wheels you should verify that they clear the caliper!)

I just wanted to share that I have the 4 pot 340mm in front and 2 pot 345mm in the rear and was DCC coded. I have this set up for a year with no problems whatsoever. Daily use, spirited use or hard braking and the brakes perform great.

As far as I know, this set up is also on M135i/M235i right.

340mm or even 370mm front rotors combined with the 4 piston caliper and 345mm rear with 2 piston caliper are a complete different brake story then the cheap entry setup you get i.e. on a 320i.
Looking under the hood, or in this case, behind the wheels, show where BMW saves production cost.
Well even Jaguar F-Type comes with a front 2-piston and rear 1-piston caliper brake. Good luck on the track!

Just a fyi, in case it has not been mentioned. The yellow m performance kit is heavily discounted compare to the red and orange kits. Without rear rotors can be had for low $1200 (new, not used). Just google the part number, 34112221446.

Good to know, I just checked and the red and oranges normally runs $2300 and yellow $1610 at dealership. Non dealer can be found at $1850/ $1250 so yes $700 less for yellow with our $500 for the rear rotors. Mmmmm that makes me think it twice. Not sure how will look yellow on Glacier Silver with 403m wheels. I got a quote from my dealer for red one at $3k out off the door. I guess will tell them to deduct $700. Not quite sure.

If you go with stoptech rears, dimpled and slotted, its only $120ish a piece. Blanks are $90ish a piece.

I'll change the front M sport rotors & calipers instead of basic setup o Monday So since its only the fronts, should I code them ?
OR I'll be fine untill I upgrade the rears?
