Maybe it's just a bog standard 335D as we know they are supercar beaters.

Here he is up against an E46 M3's. Dont forget both are RWD.

he posted some times:

335D 13.5@105mph
M3evo 14.0@99mph

I'm pretty sure a stock F3x would do a 13.5 (although does have xdrive).

You take me back to dxb335d! Wonder where he is now, was a really nice guy as far as you can tell. we all move on in different directions but think he went down the M route if I recall correctly.

Yes the "Tarmac Terrorist" owned an M3 then a Porsche by the looks of it. He was a character.

Interesting, the suspension is probably the first thing I'd do if I was modifying my F31 and that would be closely followed by the brakes. I appreciate your comments have been prompted by your run-in with a mapped E92 335d but the vast majority of the time I find my car is more than quick enough to keep pace with most traffic; IMHO more power and torque is the last thing a standard X-Drive set-up needs!

A remap is calling you now .. although don't expect 320bhp to keep up with that particular 335d you talk about here.

I recommend .. http://www.e-maps.co.uk
TBH in a straight drag a 450hp M3CP would make mince meat of 330d never mind a 320d another 200hp does make a difference in a slip road drag.

An M3 could let a 330d get to 70mph and still beat it to 120mph, a 330d has another 70hp more than a 320d an M3 has almost 3 times that advantage another level of performance to the 330d.

330D
0-70 mph (s): - 7.2
0-120 mph (s): - 22.5
70-120 = 15.3s

M3DCT
0-120 = 13s

Crazy really.

But there is nothing more demoralising and no better way of you thinking your car is slow than sitting behind a car for a few miles for it to then blow you away on the slip road to a dual carriageway.

The culprit was an E92 335d. I did think it would pull away from me due it's lighter weight and a bit more power but it didn't pull away - it blew me away! Even had the gearbox in Sport mode anticipating his antics. There must have been some trickery going off, it sounded like an aircraft taking off and there was a lot of black smoke. Not a cool sound or a nice site.

Now where am I best to go for a remap?
I've been in the 335d's position a few times to other BMWs lol.

Completely agree. Ride, handling and steering feel are the weak points of the package and especially in the X-D models.

I dont understand the point of your post here

You replied to my comment that the way the obviously well tuned 335d pulled away from the 330d hearse was similar to how an M3 would pull away from a 320d so what has it got to do with an M3 vs 330d? Very odd reply since no M3 was even involved in the OP's post.

For the record there is a big difference in pulling away from a 320d and a 330d even if the M3 is considerably faster than both cars since the performance difference between an M3 and a 320d is more than double the difference between an M3 and a 330d.

0-62
M3 (450) - 4.3
M3 (431) - 4.5
330d - 5.6
320d - 7.4

50-75
M3 (450) - 2.2
M3 (431) - 2.3
330d - 3.4
320d - 5
