Very similar to our 340 tourer. Ours is a 2016, but with 39k miles, and maybe a slightly higher spec, but yours is very well specced indeed. If I was selling it today privately I think I would be starting above 22k for sure, given what's on Autotrader.
I'd ignore WBAC.

Yeah start high and see if you get any takers. Just be wary of the dealers looking for a bargain. We sold my brothers car for him back during the first lockdown and had a few dealers posing as private buyers on the phone. They then turned up with a car transporter and offered £3k less to take it away there and then. I was happy to tell them where to stick their offers but still a total waste of time and effort for me.

Am I being an idiot or have you made a mistake with the reg, should it not be a 66 reg if it’s a Jan 2017 car??
It’s a great spec car, I’d be pricing it around £24k & see how it goes from there. |

Got to be £24,995 or thereabouts to start. They're a rare car, and with a decent spec, it should find a home.

Be a bit careful here with regards to pricing.
Used cars prices are at an all time high. Hardly any private used sales around, the well priced cars have all been snapped up and the ones sat there have been sat there for months. They are not moving. I very nearly bought a 340i Touring last year, 66 plate with 48k miles on it, Nav prof, Harmon, adaptive suspension, Tanzinite blue with oyster and it was £18500. In the end I decided to keep my F11 530d Touring and started looking for a Cayman or 911 to replace the Boxster with. But there were a few at those prices, same with 335d Tourings, I considered buying a 335d touring on a 64 plate with 85k miles, with every option from a dealer in Bristol, again blue but with beige, and that was £13500 and we agreed £13000. I was down that way and he called me back to say he would do the deal as I was nearly back in Norfolk so it didn't happen. Looking back now that would have been a cracking buy. All I am saying is, if you want to sell it be realistic, and be careful looking at the prices out there, many buyers will have been watching prices closely over the last few months. WBAC prices are a very good indicator of what is happening price wise at the moment, dealers can't open properly, people are not allowed to go and see cars. WBAC offer around 5% less than these are actually achieving through auctions, prices are updated twice a week based on actual prices achieved. I would say their price plus 15% will give you a ball park. Then look at the prices out there and go slightly cheaper than the rest and you stand half a chance of a quick, easy sale. Get in just below everyone else and someone who wants one will bite. Price it high to start with and people will ignore it. Also, make sure you put phone number and email on the advert. I sell loads of cars, help a mate out who trades, and I would say 99% of sales on higher priced stuff is all done through email. Definitely first contact, many don't want to spend hours chatting on the phone. I would say 95% of sales the first vocal communication is on the day they are picking it up. Also, you do have to consider many will want to finance this, even with a bank loan over 48 months £20k is £460 a month. A lot of people at that point will start looking at a PCP or PCH on an M340i. Good luck. |
