I found there are AUDIO_SYSTEM & AUDIO_PROFILE in the HU_NBT.

There are list of options to choose: individual, base, stereo, tophifi and hk, would it seems to work?

And also and amp variant coding.

ANyone can clarify these?

There are lots of options for coding audio in the HU, but they're only useful if the hardware and software support what you're coding. For instance, if you have the base system coding it to H-K isn't going to give you graphic EQ, because the graphic EQ hardware and software reside in the H-K amp that you don't have.

Try coding those and then tell us about it... otherwise just don't.

What post count has to to do with asking a member to contribute to this thread as the OP did?

Coded this yesterday.
Since I've been using L7, I'll give my thoughts on Expanded B&O:

This DSP is definitely a much wider soundstage, and I can still tell which speakers it's sending to directionally, not really a "pool" of sound, imo (but that's what my ears hear, lol).
I am getting a bit more clarity and separation in the highs vs. L7 , but that could also come down to EQ settings, which I'm going to play around with in both DSPs.

One thing I did notice that changed in the menu besides the removal of the L7 checkbox and the B&O title at the top:

In volume settings, "Speed volume" is no longer available. I know it doesn't have as significant effect with HK systems (versus HiFi), but it is noticeable.
It seems I've had to use a bit more volume with the B&O setup due to the wider soundstage.

Someone help this dude...

Makes sense, if you want to know what they do, and aren't getting answers from the forums, code that shit and report back. That is what most of us do. Good, bad or indifferent, you'll learn something and if you care about sharing knowledge, you could help others...which is kind of the whole point. Nothing wrong with a little encouragement to explore and report back with findings. Bimmercode takes a backup each time you code, so often, it is as simple as coding, observing and restoring from the backup if things aren't panning out.

Anything that can be coded with Bimmercode can be coded with E-Sys. They're different tools that do the same thing.

So each MOST amplifier - HK, B&O, etc - gets left and right from the head unit (if you play a DVD, it gets more than that, but let's talk about music and stereo for the moment). It also getscommands for things like Logic 7 on or off, or the B&O surround mode. (NOTE - surround for music is different than discrete surround for DVD).

But it doesn't put B&O processing into your HK amplifier in the trunk. You're sending it some command, I don't know what, but it's only turning on and off something already in the HK amplifier. NOTHING in the audio path of the HU changes when you go from HK to B&O. The amplifier in the trunk has all the processing in it, and the iDrive just does tone controls, EQ, and turns features on and off.

My guess is, you're either sending a command to turn Logic 7 on and off, or you're somehow selecting a tune for another vehicle. The B&O amplifier has active crossover channels for all the tweeters, and has a very different set of DSP functions than the HK amplifier does. You're not enabling them, I'm afraid.

Hello everybody,

I have been reading this thread and also coded the b&o settings in my hksystem.
Great upgrade in sound, thanks for the info!

I coded the kein_insz setting, which still gives you the option of studio/expanded, but gets rid of the non functional light settings.

Next i went to the AMP_TOPHB ecu, 3000 EQSetting and i tried f10 setting which i thought already sounded a bit better.
Then i discovered the rollsroyce eq settings and i couldn't help myself trying those. For now i ended up with the RR4 (rollsroyce ghost) setting which i'm pretty happy with.

The bass sounds tighter, the highs better balanced and defined, i'm not turning down the 200hz in the eq anymore, just turning the 500hz one notch down.

Can you please elaborate on what your current car is, year and audio package, and what values you coded? I have a MY16 F30 with HK and was pretty disappointed with general audio until I enabled BO dsp and calibrated it and now it's passable but could be better. I'm interested in trying out what you mentioned

My car have HK and Logic7.
I've coded this to kein_insz.
Put B&O to Expanded. And what can i say wow like an upgrade.
Deeper Bass and before i had a crackling sound here and there on some songs. Its totally gone.
Thank you for the Tip!!

If there is any chance someone could upload a sample of any song to demonstrate
the B & O sound upgrade I would really appreciate it?

I dont have any before/after song record to preview that and i think the smartphone microphone might not be able to show that. But its just a 1 minute coding and you can also go back like that (kein_menue = default HK // keine_insz = B&O).
So i would recommend you to just code it and convice yourself I can definately hear a difference

I had the B&O profile enabled a while back. It's different and at the beginning I think that I figured it was better. After listening for a while, I'm not convinced. I'm probably going back to the HK.

I think it's pretty common to confuse different with better. In the end, music is such a personal preference. If it sounds good to you, that's all that really matters.

Would you mind to share more details about what car it is? And what exactly did you code?

I am curious, because I can't see even this ECU in bimmercode
