Question Short Throw Shifter

I've seen a lot of opinions against short shifters and instead just use the M performance shift knob. I need to replace or rebuild my stock shifter anyway. What would be recommended? A stock shifter or short shifter?

And if I do choose to go with a short shifter, which brand is preferred?

Interested in this thread also. Im leaning more towards the BMS since it's cheaper and I have read good reviews on it so far.

You just reading comments about the shifter on forums? I haven't found a lot of reviews to go by. I believe the transmission may need to be dropped to do the install.

I installed a UUC Short Shifter kit in my 99 540 Sport and it was the best upgrade I made. The current model for the F30 335xi is: http://store.uucmotorwerks.com/ultim...f34-p1442.aspx and the install procedures do not require dropping the trans and are available here: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/EVO3_IN...L_USSF30-1.pdf . Because of the design and mounting technique, I did notice a slight increase in trans noise being transmitted into the cabin, but very slight.

BMS is popular, likely because of price point, UUC is one of the best though.

Isn't the UUC the one where the knob is twisted after installation?

Not if you use a round shift knob like the m-performance one.
