N57 335/435/535d Tuning Potential

Hi,

Im looking for some advice around tuning options. I know its been brought up before but i thought i would start a new thread to try and get a clearer picture.

Tuning options:
1. Remap
2. Inter-cooler
3. M550D fuel pump
4. Methanol Injection
5. Hybrid Turbo
6. Porting exhaust manifold
7. Exhaust flow (DPF/CAT off and/or sports exhaust)
8. Decoke and valve clean (more maintenance)

Im trying to understand what of the above can be done with the standard exhaust/DPF/CAT in place. In the UK they are trying harder to make sure DPF stays in place.

So far i have a remap, intercooler and decoke and think im running about 400hp. Turbo running 32-33psi (stock turbo which should be rated to 2.5bar (36psi))

My question really is what is the max power you can get with the DPF in place? I dont want to run methanol (tried it and was not that impressed for all the effort/mixing/insurance etc.). If i add more fuel with a M550d pump do you think i can run max boost (36psi) or even more the Hybrids?

I did see another post with someone running 450HP with the DPF in place BUT setup was running Meth so much of that power could have been coming from the meth and the ported exhaust manifold. Could i not just, instead of meth, add more diesel and air or would the DPF be the constraint.

Any advice welcome!

Quite a lot can be done with the standard exhaust. Here is a thread about our progress about tuning the N57 through various stages.

Does anyone know the tuning thresholds for each part as below on the N57 335/435/535?

OEM Intercooler - 370hp?
OEM DPF - 385hp?
OEM HPFP - ???
OEM Turbo's (Europe version) - 450hp??
OEM Exhaust (without DPF/CAT) - 500hp??
OEM Injectors - ???

Phil - nice work, i could not see what fuel pumps you used to start or in the end??

Cheers
