I took mine in today at 9:30 was told i would get a call to update me at lunch time, called them back at 2pm and it hadn't been looked at yet. Got a call at 3pm to state it does need a egr cooler and they can smell gas fumes in the cabin. Been given a mini as a replacement car at 5pm and told me the part should arrive tomorrow and all going well I should have my car back tomorrow....I'm not holding my breath, no mention of the coolant leak though....

Got my car back today after having the EGR Cooler replaced. They got the cooler separate from all the other associated parts as Germany are still trying to get the kits sent out. Just glad to have my own motor back after 6 weeks and 2 days.

I thought I got a wiff of diesel exhaust in the cabin this morning when the car was cold. Might have to pop mine in the Sytners? I havent been contacted by anyone so far though. 2014 335d

How long did you have the wiff for? Were there any other vehicles around your car? I've occasionally had a smell of petrol or diesel in the cabin coming from usually the vehicle in front on every car I've ever owned, you know like when you get the smell of manure off the fields as you drive past.

Very faint and only for a few seconds, maybe over 300 yards before I let rip out of the village. I'd just left home so car was cold and it was 6:30 am so didn't see many other cars around. I guess something could have gone past before I pulled out and left a trail of sulfur behind it? I'll see if it does it again when I leave tonight. Certainly the first time I've noticed any smell before but just noted the smell comment above.

Are all EGR’s being replaced or only faulty ones.
Car was in for a service few weeks ago and service advisor explained there was a crack in a pipe leading to the EGR but the EGR was fine. Said he had to replace the whole component but BMW will pay some of it as goodwill. Replaced yesterday and charged £244. Got a letter today from bmw saying book my car in for EGR replacement under the recall. Any idea where I stand with this? |

As far as I know they only replacing only faulty ones, personally who’s to say it won’t go faulty later? They should replace all of them. |
