OT: I blo0dy love the new X6

It's very marmite I know - but I love the new X6.

Loved the old one too.

Seriously contemplating an SUV as next car as spend sooooooooo much time in traffic or on motorway.

I mentioned in a previous thread my love for a Macan and even had a test drive booked (which I postponed and haven't taken yet) - but Porsche's PCP deals are woeful - the examples I got made me laugh.

If I had capital to buy outright I'd buy a Macan - but I don't so I probably won't be able to afford a well spec 'd one.

X6 discounts poor at minute but not needed for at least a year

Anyone driven one or can comment what discounts historically have been available?

Was behind an old X6 the other day - how can you see anything out of that tiny rear window?!!! Camera would be a must!

I have to admit I don't really get it either. Neither a car nor 4x4 with, to me, none of the advantages of either and most of the disadvantages of the other.

I do like the X6, bit of a guilty pleasure ..... but it's probably the most impractical SUV out there. I'm surprised there are so many on the roads as I struggle to see what it offers.

I guess what I'm really trying to say, is that although I really like the X6, if I did find myself looking at one......I'd buy an SQ5

Garage List
It's hideous. Huge and yet impractical. A car made for the USA that just looks wrong on UK roads. How's that for a balanced opinion?

New X1 would be my pick of the Xs maybe right now. Looks lovely and not too massive.

New X6 hmm it's ok. There are Catenne deals for the Diesel at£540 right now. Better than some Macan deals.

Good grief man you can't say that on here and not get assassinated!
Great choice though for the short time you would be alive to enjoy it

No problems with liking SQ5, I think it is persistant brand bashing that winds people up. SQ5 is more true sports drive than any of the X's

My concern with that is that a new Q5 is out next year and that is when I would like to buy, not being someone who buys new models as they come out means it kind of isn't on my list.

But I do quite like them.

My take is:

4x4 driving position
Sporty coupe look

If you want a pure 4x4 for genuine practicality reasons or a driving focussed coupe, clearly not the choice for you

You'd really need to be a certain 'type' to drive an X6.......now what's the word I'm looking for?

As some would say, what do I know? I've got a GT coming...

I think the X4 and X6 look great - like something from a Sci fi movie but in the real world they seem a bit impractical especially with their sheer size and the fact the back seat is split by an armrest making them a 4 seater. I'm guessing you can opt not to have that? Seems a shame to drive something the size of a 747 and only have room for 4.
My wife misses her X3 and the high driving position (and probably the extra hundred bhp she had over her 120d). Any of those fast, subtle jeeps are great fun. Surprises many a GTI driver.

Ha! Another marmite motor.

The GT is the opposite to the X6 I guess - total practicality at the expense of sleek looks

It will be quite a while until we see a new SQ5. Haven't even had a release date yet for the new model Q5 but best guesses are late 2016 with deliveries early 2017. The SQ5 won't come at launch and likely to be another year down the line.
