How many miles to a tank?)

Was impressed to find that my seconds tank of fuel did 512 miles with 24 miles shown as still available.

As I am still running in the car, I have been driving it gently and in Eco Pro.....still good though for a 420i GC petrol.

Anywhere between 400 and 550 in my remapped 330d xDrive Touring depending on driving (steady on the motorway towards the upper end and stop start city driving with sharper accelerations towards lower end).

But the op is a in a petrol - which i think its pretty good!

I average about 550 in my 435d (80% constant motorway)... i have had it as high as 640 before with 3l left when i filled it (assuming it is a 57L tank)

Running in driving gently is best not in eco pro, that labours the engine too much by being low revs, you shouldn’t labour an engine you are running in.

You should go easy on it but keep the revs varied.

Don't know, maybe I should check it sometime. I'm in the habit of giving it a top up when it shows 1/4 tank left.

Learnt that by being foolish. Driving back from Germany in my old Merc & made a detour due to traffic, realised that needed some fuel soonish so set the quickest route to Calais as there are plenty of places to stop.... horror I ended up in the middle of nowhere down little track roads with only 40 miles left of fuel indicated and it was counting down quick..... There are 2 places called Calais in France & the one I was heading for wasn't where the Euro tunnel was !!

As I drove with the lightest foot and used every trick to eek it out including not slowing down at a junction or turning as long as there was no other cars, I managed to drift into a fuel station with the car saying 0 miles for what seemed like the last 15mins... never again. Funny enough the car had a 60 litre tank and I filled it up... it took 62 litres

That’s really good I don’t often get more than 430/440 left to a tank in my 430d vert...always thought something was wrong but it isn’t a particularly light car.

You say that, but the 420i GC auto fuel consumption is actually only 7mpg higher than my 330d xDrive Touring. And my car is remapped. And I never use Eco Pro.

About right I'd say. Still good for a petrol, to be fair all BMW engines are good on fuel nowadays.

Around 400 miles will see my 440i towards the red at which point I'll fill her up.
Usually still says around 50 miles left. It's currently averaging around 37-38mpg indicated, with mostly a roads with a little fun now and then. Worst I've had was around 32mpg. Very frugal the latest generation of bmw engines.

Average MPG is currently showing 42 miles (2 tanks of fuel) but did this the other day on a drive back from Liverpool to Halesowen, West Midlands.....and I think it was slightly higher at 53 mph on on the journey to Liverpool.

412 miles with 15 mile range remaining on an unmapped 328i has been my best.

70 litre tank ~ 15.4 UK gallons, so around 27.7 mpg, which isn't bad as I averaged 22 mpg with my S2K.

I've just checked and it's 57 litres for the oil burner and 60 litres for the petrol (doh!), so reworking the above:

60l ~ 13.2 gal, gives me a fuel economy of 32.3 mpg, not complaining about that at all

Depends what type of journeys you do.

Unless I go on long motorway journeys I average around 450 out of a tank in my remapped 330d, but I tend to have a heavy right foot.

On a long motorway journey It'll easily do closer to 600.

Yep, a big part is also less starts from cold per tank, as well as the smoother steady speed driving.

I get no more than 30mpg! I fill up every 300-350 miles. Maybe I spend too long in sport mode.

Hmmm, that's actually very similar to my 435d. My average range (calculated not indicated) is 450-460 miles to a full tank on my daily commute and general driving. Driving long distance (as I did at the weekend) gave me a range of 520 miles. Works out to 36 mpg average with up to 42 mpg on a long run.

My 335d is a bit better than that. I can pretty easilly get 50 mpg on any motorway run over about 30 miles and my overall average is 39.7. Thats primarily A road with a bit of back road, motorway and town mixed in. Average 480 to a tank

What year is your 335d?

I know the 435d GC's weigh a bit more, but I'm still surprised at how rubbish my MPG is.

I think the avg in mine is ~35 calculated (another reason I'm looking to swap to a petrol...).
