The last one is for launch control, I don't think it's mandatory.

I didn't code ICM because my car already had Sport+, I'm not sure if that's mandatory either. Try the 3 items above, then put car into sport mode, shifter to the left and step on it. If you get nice kicks when the car switches gears, you have the sports auto coded successfully.
So did launch control work for you? I think I coded it on my car but never got it to work.

It works, I used it a whole one time

It's really overrated imo and can't be good for the transmission even if "the car is designed for it" so I don't use it ever.

You need to drive around for a while (10 miles I think) and have the engine at operating temperature. Then Sport+, shifter to the left, foot on brake to the floor and stomp the gas. Little flag shows up on the dash and you're off!

Hey Guys, not new to the coding scene but just learned about this little transmission upgrade you guys are talking about.

I'm taking delivery of a 2016 335i xdrive GT M-Sport with all the goodies. Is this model capable of being coded for an even faster tranny?? I appreciate the help, and I have a local coder that can follow directions VERY well. Thanks everyone.

I think the M-Sport already comes with the sports transmission. Check for option 2TB on your VIN.

Oh Okay, I was thinking there is even a faster application on top of the sport auto, wouldn't that be nice!!

Its okay. Not the biggest difference in the world. This is coming from someone who had a car without it and coded it, and now has a car with it stock.

A question for transmission experts...

Do the faster shift times mean that there is less overlap when the two gears are engaged, thus reducing the amount of friction and heat in the process? Would this mean that a sport transmission actually runs cooler and has superior durability because of this mode of operation?

Faster shift means less friction wear, so its actually a good thing for the transmission

Just tried the SAT and I'm very happy with the result. In comfort mode it doesn't hang the revs in partial throttle anymore and shifts are snappier but not uncomfortable. For those who haven't done this, try it out.

Btw huge thanks for all the information in this thread!

ICM Module/ 3000 Daten/ IcmKod_B_Sportlenkung/ verbaut

EGS/3000 Applikation -> Sportschalter_alt -> aktiv
EGS/3000 Applikation -> Sportschalter -> aktiv

The question now is whether and which of the following code are in addition necessary to get the SAT.
Kombi => 300C ECO_FDS =>Function
ICM/IcmKod_B_S2TBA -> verbaut
ICM/IcmKod_B_S205A -> nicht_verbaut.

Since I have not changed yet a FA or performed a VO Coding I am unsure in that matter.
So if necessary and possible , I would like to just perform the missing coding without the change to 2TB.
So did you do the 2TB FA coding as well?

Edit: Easy with just doing the FA (205->2TB) and VO coding. All the FDL's were already done from the VO/ECU coding.

I would just change the FA from 205 to 2TB and VO code (just code the ECU's) not FDL code everything.

Does your Launch control work? I noticed a huge difference in performance when I put the car into Sport+ and Manually shifted.

I have my car VO coded from 205 to 2TB and a few days ago the car went in for a service for a trim issue and they found some fault codes in the transmission. The SA said the trans was constantly looking for the paddle shifter so there were some fault codes being generated. Looked at the FEM module and it has the paddle shifters as being active by default if you code 2TB so you might want to manually turn that off.

Where in FEM_BODY is the paddle shifter FDL?

So can I just change those values without doing the VO-Coding?

Yes, FDL coding will attain the same result.

Thanks, will try it on my 328i tomorrow.

Edit: did work, I just FDL-Coded KOMBI, EGS and ICM with the values from above. Seems to work. I can see S1-S8 if I have the shift knob on the left, but don't see a big difference. Maybe because I'm driving a 328i anyways?
