FBO , now which BM3 tune first?

I have a 2013 335i XDrive, PWG, MPE, MPPK

I just had VRSF catless downpipe, intercooler, and charge pipe installed as well as a Dinan intake. I have always filled with 93.

What should I flash first? Stage 2 91? Or go right to 93? I eventually would like to run an e30 blend as well.

Also where is the best place to buy from? Just straight from PTF website?

I am ready to buy ASAP so any help is appreciated!

Thank you!

I would flash stage 2 93oct. see how the car runs and take a few logs, if your having issues w/ timing/timing corrections step the tune down to 91, but still fill with 93. you can buy from mike @ x-ph, he's always on the forum and would have given me a great deal if I didn't end up flashing w/ MHD.

I would start with Stage 1 93 and take some logs to make sure ignition timing looks good. If everything runs well, then bump it up to Stage 2 93. If your timing is problematic, you might not have the best gas (based on where you live) and could then try out Stage 2 91 while still running 93 gas.

I didn't have the best gas in MN, so went from Stage 1 93 to Stage 2 91.

Don't just full send with Stage 2. I don't know why people suggest it, other than that you can save $50.

One thing I will note is that MHD seems to cater to PWG cars better than BM3 does. Most BM3 issues are seen on PWG cars.

Thank you guys! I just did the stage 1 93 flash. Now what's the best way to log? What should I be looking for with timing? Can I just post here or in the bootmod3 thread?

Best log would be full 3rd gear pull from 3000 to just before redline. 100% throttle all the way through. You should be able to use the computer under data logs. It should be a start stop with the click of a mouse. Kinda hard to do while driving.

if he has all the supporting mods why not flash stage 2? even if he is running a 91 octane map and pumping 93 that's fine, probably better technically. these OTS maps are not THAT aggressive, and I'll bet you he flashes stage 2 within the next few weeks now, so he is actually spending more $$$.

I bought all the maps so I can flash whatever. How about we just peep my log and go from there?

I'm just learning myself, but your logs look great. You did an amazing job of getting them. Lots of useful data. Usually people can't figure out how to post a good log.

Everything looks good except the timing in cylinder 6. Most likely coil pack or spark plug related. Every other cylinder is right on the nuts. I'm not sure if it's a problem or not, but you might consider replacing plugs and/or coil packs soon. How many miles on the car?

Boost looks good, your HPFP isn't struggling to feed fuel, and it would appear as if you have great gas where you live. No detected knocks is great. You could probably bump it up to Stage 2 93 and have no problems.

Your intercooler is keeping the air nice and cool.

That looks to be a really healthy engine.

Dude thank you for this and for all of your help this thread. Great to hear about the gas! I'll stick to the same station for now. I'll do the plug swap this week too. I see that cylinder 6 has lower values from the others during some points, I am assuming that's what you are referring to.

I'll flash Stage 2 and log again this week after plugs.

Yeah. I don't even know if that's a real problem or not. Someone else might chime in. But congrats on the new tune!

Some ebay special. It's honestly pretty crappy quality, I spent a lot of time making it fit and look decent.

Thanks I most likely will do tonight. Don't know why I am just a little nervous, it's running sooo good right now on Stage 1. I sent my log to PTF also and asked them to review.
