B48 Funny Noise
Just purchased a 2019 430i M Edition. Wife noticed a funny noise on cold start up. It almost sounds like a helicopter noise coming from under the car. Dealership said it was normal, something about the cats going through a warm up process or something?

It sounds like something is banging or rattling up against something that it shouldn't be. If it happens more on cold starts when the engine shakes the most, I'd guess some exhaust hanger or bolt is loose. That's the first thing I'd check.

How much fuel is in your tank? To me it sounds similar to the (normal) LPFP clatter, which is only noticeable below 1/4 tank.

SIB 16 03 19 NOISES FROM THE FUEL TANK AT IDLE 2020-07-06 This Service Information Bulletin (Revision 1) replaces SI B16 03 19 dated April 2019 SITUATION All vehicles except the F48 (X1): While driving slowly with low RPM or while idling a faint knocking or fluttering noise can be heard from inside the fuel tank with a low fuel level approximately less than 2 gallons). The customer may describe this noise as a “helicopter noise” from the rear of the vehicle. CAUSE:Pressure fluctuations from the tank ventilation valve will cause the fuel tank filler pipe non-return valve to vibrate. In some cases, the vibration can be heard inside the vehicle.
