Damn, theres P/N for the fluid somewhere in one of the threads.

I just went to check my LSD, the cover really is loose but I had no spill thankfully. Try to contact ECS and see if they can offer you the LSD oil.

I ordered mine from ECS too, and it arrived with covers knocked off and fluid spilled all over the packing. A stinky, smelly mess and I had to have it refilled at installation for the sum of about 75$ for 1 liter. I called ECS to complain, they offered $ back. Suggest you do the same. I don't have my service paperwork handy but I remember being told it's the same oil used in the M differential so any bmw dealer should have it on hand

ECS doesn't package those, BMW does. Leakage is why the LSDs come in bags and why my dealer told me I'll likely need to buy a bottle of diff oil because some will have leaked out in transit. I bought my LSD directly from the dealer 1.5 years ago. None had leaked out, but it was underfilled by 1/2 bottle and the tech told me that was very common and he's never seen one close to full. You guys better check the fluid level before using the LSD.

That's some BS; I would try to get them to refund at least the shipping cost, as compensation.

WOW!!!

When I received mine it was packaged extremely well and had sensors all around it to ensure it was never tossed around...plus it was strapped to a wooden pallet for extra protection.

I was surprised to see the sensors on the sides on my box but mine was shipped directly from Germany when I placed the order from a local BMW dealer and paid less than $500 with expedited shipping.

I must of gotten lucky or perhaps when shipped directly from Germany they take extra precautions during shipment!

That's the way they show up at all Dealerships from BMW.

Many online shippers repackage because shipping on an open pallet is much more expensive.

Pallets mean pallet jacks...and lifts off delivery trucks...so it's much more expensive to deliver
So they repackage to get shipping costs down.

Same procedure goes for any heavy/bulky items such as engines, they are shipped on pallets.

Here's an example, and is why UPS/FedEx do not do pallets

Ugh, mine also arrived in poor condition with fluid leaking (shipped by UPS). Sent an email out to ECS.

I did not purchase from ECS.

Purchased mine through a BMW dealer and they organized shipping from Germany.

My ECS LSD came in an awesome box (not ECS branded box, but had ECS packing tape). Plugs were still intact and nothing spilled out.

UPDATE:
I contacted ECS about my previously mangled and wet box from so much oil spill.
They have been great and treating me very well. They over nighted me a brand new one at no additional cost and have been taking measures to improve their packing of the diff as of now so that it doesnt result in anymore spills or if it does it is very minor. Here are pics.
Theres only very minor leaking, they used much more foam, double boxed, and better tape. I am very happy with this result.

Sadly I must return the spare one, otherwise I'm pretty sure they'll charge me for the price of 2

installed mine, barely low apparently when I filled it. all I gotta say is getting the drive shaft off was a PITA, 100% loosen the wheel hub when you try to remove it, makes it way easier.
