328d Touring fuel milege
I've got a 2016 328d touring. I get on average about 31.5 mpg which seem a little low to me compared to what I've read about online. It's got the M-Sport package which is the only thing I can think of that would be causing it. Any idea?

Here's some data from my F31 over the last 3 months for comparison:
Average MPG: 33.86 Distance (mi): 3142 Approx. avg speed (mph): 36.3 I'm very light-footed in my driving habits. But looks like my MPG is similar to yours, either this is normal or you and I have the same problem.

37.3 mpg last fill up
38.3 Since oil change (6K so far) 50/50 driving 2014 M-Sport Wagon I usually get around 40mpg on long trips.

not so light-footed driver
Close to 30.000 km, average so far 6.522 l/100 km. In US units, it's 36.06 MPG. Got the car with 90.000 km, and now at close to 120.000 km. I think that's pretty good considering it is heavy, 4 wheel drive, and while my driving in mostly highway, I have somewhat of a lead foot.

2017 F31, I bought it CPO with 23,xxx miles, now at 30,000. Onboard computer never reset as far as I know, showed about 38.5 mpg when I first got the car, now at 45.9 mpg. Almost all highway driving normally cruising at a little over 70 mph.
I have seen posts on other forums (don't recall just where) claiming 50+ mpg for their F31s. |

When I had a 328d touring I'd get around 34 mixed if I remember correctly. Yes it can go up to 40mpg highway but I drive 80-90.

What are your tire pressures? Tire sizes wider than normal?
Also are you running any sort of roof rack?

Just did my first tank of all city driving and got 439mi out of it and a fuel economy of 29.8mpg.

I don’t think I’ve gotten less than 40mpg since I’ve owned it. I coded it to default to ECO and play around in Sport every now and then but generally light footed. I prefer to look fast (M Sport) than go fast. I’ve gotten over 50 on a trip to SoCal so it is possible.

I noted about 10% reduction in mpg on a recent road trip comparing a tank using b15 and the prior tank of real diesel.
Possible it is environmental (wind?) but that is what I observed.

Overall average mpg down to 43.5 but I've never had under 40 on a fill. Filled just today for 41.7. Never use any kind of fuel additives and run Shell Diesel whenever possible. There's a noticeable 1-3 mpg and performance drop off with other brands available in the Northeast. I freely admit that that the performance difference may be in my head but the mpg difference is real. |

2014 328d M-Sport Wagon here... Highest average I've seen for a tank when stock is ~40mpg, averaging around 60mph. My usual combined average is somewhere in the 32-34 range (calculated, not relying on the trip computer). I just did ~1k miles from San Diego to the Bay Area and back, averaged ~80mph and 35mpg. Tires are set at door jamb pressures (35f/39r) and are 225/45/18 Michelin MXM4, and I've got the larger M-Performance brakes, so more rotating mass versus the small stock rotors. Fresh alignment, brand new particulate and SRC sensors, EGR recall already performed, 110k miles on the odo, and a DUDMD Stage 2 tune. However, I keep getting DPF efficiency codes and suspect it's near the end of its life, although Ash mass is only 55g.

Mine gets currently about 38mpg doing 80/20 hwy/city with a pretty heavy foot, though have managed to do about 44mpg when driving in ECO mode and just take it easy. This is with stage 1 Kerma tune. I had a 250+ mile trip from Redding to Bay Area that rendered ~51mpg with average speed of 67mph and using CC the entire trip (to discourage me from stepping on it). These are all gas pump and mileage calculated numbers, though I have found the trip computer to be within 0.5mpg of what I calculate.

Recently clocked over 60,000 hand calculated miles. Roughly 85% highway/interstate at speeds of 65-90 mph. Drive in comfort 98% of the time. Use 4 oz of Opti-lube XPD and 2 oz Opti-lube cetane boost (orange cap) every fill up.
Overall fuel economy has gone down slightly since the EGR recall less than 10,000 miles ago. Getting the Wagner EVO intercooler and Kerma Stage 2 tune installed soon. |
