what functionality will I gain if I buy a Y cable for £60

is it only stored phone music I can play or will I be able to play podcasts as well?

I have an IPhone SE and 2013 BMW with standard USB preparation

You'll be able to connect your iPhone directly into the armrest and access the playlists, search by artist etc.

Pretty much just like using AUX except that you can now select the tracks from the steering wheel and use the search functionality. I'm not sure about podcasts but it should work.
