Vinshu, Burger, Cobb, etc has been all over BMW lately.

What simple 100hp tunes have been available for Mercs recently in the 400 to 1200 price range?

Pointless, as the B58 engine will take plenty of time to develop any tune for or piggyback. The N55 engine has barely become universal for a Cobb tune. And yuck for any piggybacks.

Plus tuning is a subjective matter, stock for stock should be the comparison conversation when talking about two cars that aren't even for sale yet.

not really. It didn't take long for tunes to follow the N54 and N55... I imagine it won't be long for the B58 once the tuners get a hold of it. I was asking if there are tuners lined up to tackle the Merc engines. And have they proven to have quality products in the $400-1200 range that offer reliable 100+ hp gains. (sorry, I don't visit Merc forums)

stock vs stock is as important as MSRP vs MSRP. At a MINIMUM the C450 will be $52k from what I read. Many of us will live with a less powerful B58 if tunes come out in the months ahead that push that new engine to 420bhp. I wouldn't doubt that happening...... nothing but stock here with a Cobb custom tune and my N54 is putting out roughly 410bhp on the dyno. Reliable for many years. I just drive it. Fast.

Yes, this appears to be the thread aimed primarily at discussing headlights.

The forum for discussing the promised suspension upgrades and desperately needed improvement to the (current) marshmallow electric steering must have moved to another place ???

(i.e the one populated with crusty old farts that care mostly about driving dynamics)

Sorry,...carry on!

  1. that C Class rear end is WEAK SAUCE
  2. you priced a heavy X Drive? retarded. RWD ftw!
  3. no manual on the C Class?! boring. not even a dual clutch auto or even sports tranny?!
  4. and you don't know crap about tunes. The Proceed and JB came out quickly for the N54. I know, I had a JB before my Cobb (sold my S4 and bought a new 335i in 2007, now with 90k miles). All have proven to be VERY reliable and potent tunes.
  5. next.
The N54 tunes came out quick because the N54's software was easy to 'crack', and it had a mechanical Wastegate. the N55's became electronic a year after it's production, and the software is WAY more complicated. It took DINAN about 3 years to tune it.

Yea. I skipped the whole N55 phase. Hoping this new engine is a tuner's dream.

But I'm also anxious to see what they do at Audi with the new S4. .... and I'll likely test drive the XE and C450 when they make it here. Just wish they had sticks!

Don't forget that the C300 also has comfort access on all 4 doors. A feature my wife was quick to point out on the one we have right now for a loaner while the MB dealer has my ML.

You are also way off on the tunes coming out for N55 shortly after release, it took Cobb almost 2 years (piggybacks not included) and still not all N55's are covered, MPPK's were released by BMW for the N55 very recently on the F30's.
With your clear lack of knowledge on the common knowledge of MSRPs (models, options, included items) and tunes I'm ending responses directed at you as they are falling upon deaf ears. And I really don't care to change your opinion on what are the facts.
The rear of the W205, you can say the whole car in fact, has a softer look to it compared to the F30. It's made to look like a baby S-class.

I think that's an option. The one I drove even had a keyed ignition.

To set it apart from the non-M models. I actually prefer the LED lights on the M3 than the new ones in the launch film.

I can see dealers having a hard time explaining the differences between the current model and the LCI. To 98% of the buyers they look identical.

Most buyers won't know there was an LCI or even what that is.

I have to admit that the C class has came a long way to compete with the 3 series. when i bought my 2006 E90, i didn't like the C as much in the rear compared to the 3 series then. As of the current models of both, the rear ass of the C is damn fine vs the 3 series

the interior of the 3 is bit better though IMO. wish i can combine both. lol

All these changes and yet they couldn't re-add the FF/RWD/SKIP buttons back to the steering wheel. Still need to reach across to the console to use those buttons.

340 xdrive seems pretty loaded for me...but I need to see/read how the testers feel about the steering/suspension revisions...

C Class MERC makes the 3 Series look very dated...never thought I would say that...bit like the 4 series coupe which looks all wrong compared to the E92...just does not do it for me.
