Rear diff oil leak

Looks like my rear diff is leaking, i have a dark patch on my drive and i can see oil on the outside of the diff.
Anyone else had this? My car is only 18 months old and 22000 miles!

A small amount of leaking is normal apparently, but it sounds like yours is maybe more than a little.

I wouldn’t accept that, there is no service interval for the diff oil, it’s sealed for life 🧐

The first one there was signs of it dripping on the drive, the last one was just wetting the casing. Both times it was rectified without issue. The first one then had a bearing failure in the diff a few months later resulting in a complete new diff been fitted.

In case anyone is interested, my oil leak turned out to be a faulty drive shaft oil seal. Both side seals were replaced under warranty and the diff was checked also. Full marks to BMW emergency assist and Sandal BMW Wakefield for sorting it all out so quickly!
