F30/F31 steering vibration solved?
Does anyone know if steering vibration problems has been solved by BMW finally in year 2021?
My F31 from June 2016 is having vibration in steering wheel when driving on rough surfaces. I cannot see any visible vibration in steering wheel, but I can feel it in my hands. Chassis itself is not vibrating at all if I lay my hands anywhere to car interior. BMW service has done the following - steering shaft change - alignment - new tires and balancing - front support arm and bushings renewal - software update Thrust piece is not changed due to two reasons 1. BMW service says it is for clunk problem, not for vibration 2. Thrust piece does not have that three hole cover in my car, thus the piece is not fitting my steering rack. Other BMW service says that their system proposes thrust piece also for my car as steering rack is not the basic model, but the servotronic model. RealOEM shows that the thrust piece is for Thyssen steerings of high and sport. Sport obviously means variable sport steering, but does high mean servotronic? More confusing is that in year 2016 it cannot be anymore Thyssen (ZF) steering system as the steering system business of ZF was sold to Bosch in 2015. Steering is sending vibration or other word clacking feel to driver hands in any speed if and when there are some roughness on asphalt paving. Any propositions for next steps?
