Hi, I have a F30 2017, iDrive 6, Business navigation without the wireless charging package (no antenna), NBTevo_Y. Is full screen carplay activation possible and if it is, would that void my warranty with BMW? Thanks!

if you have Business navigation then there is no way you have NBTEVO_Y.

Send me your VIN and I can check.

Any modification you make to a car under warranty can invalidate that warranty.

If you remove the carplay activation before a dealer visit, then you'll be fine, otherwise they will pick it up when they plug in their diagnostic machine.

I have the business navigation and originally the car came with NBTevo_L17252l, however, I had an issue with the system restarting itself so BMW reprogrammed it and it's now NBTevo_Y21432J.

I do have the bigger screen in the car.

How involved is the process of me removing the carplay activation?

You can't DM me because you only have 3 posts on this board.

The larger screen indicates you have Pro Nav, not business Nav, which would have a smaller 6.5" screen.

Regardless of all that, activating and de-activating is all done via a small application with a unique key that is tied to your VIN number.

Yep, you are correct, I have the "Professional". When I activate and de-activate does it leave a log in the system which a BMW specialist can see when they plug my car in?

It should not but anything is possible - whenever ISTA is plugged into a car, the entire system logs are sent to Germany via FASTA data.

That said, I've never had an issue on my own car that was activated and under warranty.

If you want a genuine FSC code for Carplay then they are about £300

Thanks for clarifying! This might be a stupid question, but if I want a geniune FSC code for CarPlay would I need to de-activate the activation when I go to BMW? Thank you, Wibbles!

If a genine FSC code is used then it does not need to be deactivated before a dealer visit.

Hi, I'm driving a F33 420 with a NBT EVO ID4 headunit. Had this unit upgraded to Apple Carplay with wifi some time ago which worked absolutely brilliantly. Unitl mid-drive the whole thing seemd to crash, went black and then rebooted but with only a functional radio. It still connects to wifi and bluetooth but no Carplay menu and the default nav system also stopped working. The rest of the menu works fine. Connecting via USB and snap-in also does not work anymore.

Upon entering the car and before starting the engine, I now hear a clicking noise coming from behind the dash, like a blinker. Could be a malfunctioning solenoid?

Any thoughts, anyone?

Or perhaps it's the hard drive in the head unit. I would take the head unit out and try to make sure the noise is coming from that. If it is, it's highly likely to be a dead/dying hard drive.

You can replace the hard drive but I've never done it in an Evo unit, only normal NBT so I'm not sure if the process is much different or not.
