Rocky Mountain 328d Wagon

Back in January I picked up a used, 2014 328D M-Sport. I've been a VAG guy most of my car owning life, so this is my 1st time in a BMW. Sold my Malone tuned 2014 VW Jetta Sportswagen that served me well for 3+ years. So well that I got hooked on diesel, but it was lacking one thing, that really makes living in Colorado easier...... AWD. So the search for a replacement option brought up the ONLY option available here in the US, the 328D. Missed out on a killer deal for a well modded car, but I think I rebounded ok.

2014 with 105k

The wheels in the photo didn't come with the car, the previous owner took them off (saved me 1K).

Oddly enough this is another red car for me (honestly wasn't concerned about color).

Started off getting recalls, and extended warrantied taken care of. And then decided to start modding (I told myself not to do this again…..)

Picked up the KermaTDI Stage II package.

Then splurged on an intake:

Decided to do the stud conversion.

Picked up some winter wheels and tires.

A trip to Vail to hit the slopes.

The ride comfort for the car was pretty harsh sitting on H&R’s with stock struts. So I decided to swap out the OEM struts and upgrade the bump stops. New OEM Bump stops, New Control Arms, New Koni Special Active Struts and Shocks.

Figured since I knew I’d be swapping out the intake swap out the FMIC too.

For my brakes, I decided to go in a different direction. I'm not expecting people to agree with my choice as I've seen on the forums, most prefer to stay OEM or with the big names Brembo, STOPTECH. But after seeing the success some had with AliExpress options (I wasn't that brave), I figured I'd give these a shot. Korean cars have come quite a long way, and the manufacturing in that country is top notch, so I thought they'd be the safer option (over the Ali brands). I wanted to get the 380's but went the safer route with 370's.

For my summer wheels, I really liked the JR11’s I had on my Audi. And what got me hooked initially was how they looked on a *SHOCKINGLY* red Audi Avant.

Engine bay “somewhat”clean.

Also clear lens swapped my headlights. But that has been a HUGE headache!!! And I just saw one of my halo’s is loose….. ARGHHHH! And installed LED fogs.

How are you liking the intake system? That engine cover looks nice as well!

Performance wise I wasn't expecting much, so I'm not disappointed in that regard. It is different acoustically from previous CAI/SRI's I've had in the past. It is LOUD idling, and low RPM's, but pretty quiet at higher RPM's. If I'm cruising and I get on the gas, it's hard to notice it audibly, which seems odd. But no big deal. And yeh, the engine cover I thought was a nice touch. Along with the fill cover. May eventually get the oil cap to match.

You are definitely winning. I do like the Golf Alltrack but that is a sick looking wagon. You nailed the config on that. Enjoy!

If it wasn't for the snow, I'd have kept the Jetta. But so far xdrive has shown it's worth!

With dedicated snow tires, xdrive does very well in snow! This was in Winter Park after a storm rolled through, it was a champ!

That's so unfortunate. I just picked up one of these 328d wagons and I'm loving it.

Box truck with an invalid licenced driver, and not properly insured, decided to make a right hand turn from the left lane, as if I wasn't even there. GEICO totaled the car.

sorry to hear that. It is only metal at the end of the day; glad you weren't injured

Btw, I recognized your name/avatar from Audizine. Back when I rocked a couple of A4 and A6 Avant's, I posted under c@@kieMonsta. Good to see a familiar name.
Sent you a PM.

And yeh, my BMW time was A LOT shorter than my Audi time. But I did a lot to the 328d in a shorter time frame.

Looking to get those wheels a third time. Can't wait to see the concavity with 20x11's or possible 20x12's! The 9.5's were pretty deep as is!
