M550i (G30) Brakes on F31 (18)

Hey guys,

So I came over a set of unused blue M performance brakes that came from factory on a M550i 2018, G30 model. I thought it would be cool to put them on my F31 320d touring.

I know the bolt pattern is 5x120 on the G30 so I realise the discs will have to be replaced. I will need some sort of adapter, I tried the front caliper on but the mounting holes are different, does anyone know if there is an adapter to be bought somewhere?

I also suspect there will be a fair bit of coding required, any tips there?
The new brakes have electronic parking brake, the F30 does not.

Now, I got these really cheap so before you say it was a dumb thing to buy, I can probably sell them and easily make a buck if the project becomes to hard or expensive

Thanks in advance

I thought the bolt pattern for G30 is 5x112?

I would sell sell them and get the m-sport or m-perf brakes for our F3x series.

5x120 is the bolt pattern for the F3x.

My suggestion is to never install brakes not specifically designed for your vehicle.

That cuts out a lot of the aftermarket bbks which reuse popular oem calipers and some generics. Boring

Your biggest issue is, obviously, how you are going to achieve a working parking brake when the F3X uses cable-operated brake shoes.

It'll be a world of pain. I'd just stop now and buy F3X components.

Exactly. I am still on the standard 330mm rear brakes, debating on buying a 4 piston setup. Just because of the handbrake issue.

The problem with this is having to go 19/20 inch wheels. If it's a show car and just sitting around to look pretty, ok. If you want to drive the car like it's supposed to be driven, then it's a no from me dawg.

The 370/345 is more than enough for spirited driving and with good pads and fluid enough for a hardcore HPDE too.

You are so right. But I got these very cheap.I did the 370/345 conversion on my f31. They are more than enough.
