Hey guys,

So my cooling fan went out yesterday. Have it at a local German specialist and he says its $800 for a new fan. I am looking and every site I go to has the OEM fans for cheaper but says its not compatible with M-Sport 335's. Anyone know the difference between a M-Sport cooling fan vs. a non M-Sport fan?

I've never heard of this difference as a base 335 and a M-Sport 335 (no M Power Kit) should have the same fan for the N55.

Any help would be appreciated; trying to obviously do this as cheap as I can and not get screwed over.

What year is your car?

According to ECS a radiator cooling fan for my 435i - M sport is $800

Yup looks like if you have the M-sport N55, the cost is $800

i can verify as well since i just had mine replaced as well. Stupidly went to the dealer and paid $1600 all in for it. was told "it has to be programmed to the car" and "it has a computer on it that needs to be activated for the car"

Only reason i was okay with it was because the SA and SM there are cool and have helped me out in the past.

Sorry forgot to mention my shop guy told me the part number was

17428641964

Which when you look at those they all say for non M Sport cars. Just confused with this and do not want to buy the wrong fan lol....

If your INDY shop is ok with installing parts you purchase then just buy it yourself since he gave you the wrong part number.

Better to be certain you order the correct part as opposed to him ordering the wrong part and delaying you getting your car back on the road.

I thought m sport would have the same radiator? differences are steering wheel, bumpers, suspension, brakes, a secondary radiator/oil cooler, and a few M logos here and there. but engine, fan, radiator I would imagine are the same. what part # comes up when you search by your VIN in realoem? I have an M sport and will check myself to see what the part # is

just comparing images from ECS, they both look the same just one is BMW stamped and the other is not.

There is a $100 price difference so he might just be trying to make extra money which is just normal business practices, so just manage the situation and order the right part!
