Smoke coming out from front

I have 2014 335i and today I took it out for 10 mins and when I came back I saw little bit of smoke coming out from the front grill. There was some burning smell too. When i opened the hood didn’t notice anything but little bit of smoke came out for few minutes from the front grill specially when hood is closed. Car was hot too considering I drove for only 5-10 mins.

Any idea what can be the issue here. I am due to oil change next week.

Based on the info you posted, car needs examination by a professional.

The smoke Smells like? Oil? Anti freeze? Burning plastic? Etc

These cars have like 38 radiators. Maybe one broke or something else. I'd be careful. Motors are delicate and expensive like most members here

I agree with the poster above. You need to identify the smell. But if I had to guess, it's a bad valve cover gasket and it's leaking onto the exhaust manifold. I only come to this conclusion cause my E90s went bad twice and both time I'd see smoke on start up as well as shut down

My bet is valve cover gasket. Common maintenance item. Seeping oil contacts exhaust headers.

Ditto on the valve cover gasket leaking onto the manifold. That happened to me and I was having some faint smoke coming through my vents and front wheel wells.

Thank you everyone. I am going to oil change this Monday and will ask dealer to look at valve cover gasket.

How many miles on the car? My E92 335i had gasket problems around 70K.

Tell the dealer about the smoke, rather than specifically to look at the V.C. gasket. Those symptoms are OFTEN the V.C. gasket, but not always. A mechanic should look there first, but if something else causes the problem you still want it diagnosed.

I towed my car to the dealer as I was scared to drive due to smoke. Dealer called today and told me that I have 2 leaks. One from Valve Cover Gasket and other one is from Oil filter housing. I will be getting my car tomorrow. It seems it is going to be big expense as a local Indy shop is asking around $1400 for both so dealer charge must be around $2000

Thank god I have Route 66 Extended warranty. They approved the repair and all I will be paying from my pocket is around $100

Wow, congratulations on getting an extended warranty that actually works. For our cars, it's not a matter of if, but when the OFHG and the VCG will go bad. It's basically considered routine maintenance.

Thanks. Route 66 paid $1883 for this. They didn’t pay 1 hour labor, that’s it. Highly recommended extended warranty company
