Hi All,
I'm wondering whether anyone had considered putting slightly wider tires, such as 245/35R19 instead of the factory size 225/40R19, on the front of the 19" stagger 403M wheels? My factory RFT Continentals are starting to wear off in a few thousand miles, so planning to replace them with Michelin PSS tires and wondering to put somewhat wider ones on the front to compensate a bit for the understeer the car has. Also thinking on KW DDC coilovers which should help a lot on that front too, but I might wait with that, however need to get new tires soon in anycase. According to tirerack.com 245/35R19 can go on rims with width between 8" and 9.5". Also its circumference is only 1.1% smaller than factory, so odometer should not be affected much, while looking at the current wheel itself, it looks like a 20mm wider tire (i.e. 10mm extra on each side) would easily fit the rim unlike the rear one where the 255/35 looks plenty wide for the 19x8.5" rim. The side wall would not be much smaller either, so I don't think ride quality would suffer or the danger of potholes damaging the rim would increase. What do you guys think? |

Yes, it's RWD, I also read on other forums that people had issues with different tire sizes on xDrive. That should not be an issue here.
Interestingly the 245/35 is indeed somewhat more expensive than even the 255/35, probably because of less widely used. |
