change in service interval
I have a 2013 F30 with 68K miles and just had the oil & filter changed. The dealer reset the service reminder but the past 2 oil changes, the service interval has dropped from 1 year/ 10K to 1 yr/8K miles. Have not seen anything here that would drop the service interval and was wondering what the cause could be.

Did you go into an OVERDUE period prior to getting the service performed (red icon instead of amber)? If yes, it may have deducted the overage to the next service interval.

Mine actually went up from 9k miles/12 months to 11k miles/12 months. I drive about 7k miles per year. The change coincides with the visit that I signed up for the unlimited oil changes for 3 years. Weird

I think I read somewhere (don't know where so don't ask) that the OCI calculated by the car is based on driving habits. Drive hard, shorter OCI. Drive easy, longer OCI.

Interesting, that makes sense. I don't drive my car hard but I do keep it in sport/+ mode all the time lol. Maybe that qualifies 😎

That would explain it. I only drive 3 to 4k a year. For a few years now it's shown 1 year/7k, which ever comes first. The year always comes first. The way I figure it if the mileage is less than the normal 10k the car's showing it's guess as to how many miles you'll drive when that year is up, but in my case it's still highly optimistic. Come to think of it that same 7k comes up with my yearly inspection, so that must be the explanation.
