Is this up to BMW standards?
I may be getting nitpicky on this, but I have witnessed a local dealer do this to my personal vehicle several times over several visits over the past 3 years. This does not seem to be an isolated incident, but must be the dealer’s “procedure” on how to handle customer keys.
As you can see, when you drop off the your car for service, they plonk the key right down on the hood. Great huh? Is this something BMW would approve? I asked they not do this for my car last time and apparently they just keep doing it. |

I would certainly not appreciate this.
My dealer always send me a review by email after any visit. They ask to respond and demonstrate concern if don’t give them great feedback, because it goes to BMW. I would mention this issue doesn’t meet what we expect from a certified dealer. |

To be clear, this is when you bring you car in for service. They greet you, take your key and ask you go speak to the service advisor.
Then the lot steward takes your key and puts it down on your hood to I suppose "remember" which key goes to which car. For me, it's disrespectful and a scratching concern. When it first happened I had 1,000 miles on my brand new car and I cringed for my nice shiny, clean, scratch-free hood. Other dealers I've seen use some type of plastic bag attached to the side-view mirror that holds the service orders/paperwork/key, etc. This too seems to had disadvantages, but at least there isn't a scratching concern with this method. I can't imagine there isn't a more careful way to treat customer cars with respect, and that this happens at a BMW dealer is even more disheartening. |

That's not cool, period. The bag thing is news to me.
Keep my key secured, away from Gen pop. I want that in maximum security. When I come to pick it up, hand me the key. Even my 275k e91 was treated better than that by the dealer...although I have some speculation about other concerns |

The hood is not a table.

I’d speak to one of the SAs or manager and have them put a note in your service file. My car always has a “do not wash” note whenever it’s at the dealer. I’ve never had an issue with they didn’t abide by that.

I was walking through the shop one day, one of the techs puts his coffee mug up on the roof of a SL500. The foreman was right there talking/laughing with him about something else, and then he stops,
"Jim what the fuck ... That's $120,000 car ... You just put your god damn drink on the roof? what is wrong with you." It was funny. No contact with the paint for any reason I'd be pretty pissed. My paint is still in pretty good shape ... Never mind all the factory orange peel. |
