Oil change in transmission box

So I have 320d 10.214 and I hit 165,000 km. So far didn't habe ant problems whatsoever.
I am doing regular service every 20,000 km.
I'm thinking in changing oil from transmission box, is it to late now and should I just leave it as it is. Second is that on last service they donr measured how much chain has stretched, and its 1mm after referente point, what ever that means.

If I change both thing or will cost around 300-4000 Euro, and that's little bit to much as the car is worth maybe 14,000 Euro.

I would personally not change transmission fluid at over 100k miles. That can sometimes cause more harm than good.

Also, no point in changing the timing chain until you hear a whining type noise from front of engine. Your chain may never fail.

He's just past 100,000 miles, I think I would change it now. You can pull the filler cap and see how the oil looks, to help you make a decision.

The fluid is pretty dirty at around 50k, but I agree just change it anyways

I did my 1st ZF oil change at 208 000 km, 2 months back on my 2012 F30 320d. They checked for metal shavings and burnt smell before doing the change. I'm currently on 212 000 km and driving like a dream. I think it all depends on how the car was driven as I am doing a 60-80 km a day and sometimes long distances.

The parts for the job run about $300. So figure the other $400 is labor, it's about a 3 hour process give or take to do a fluid change.

I changed mine at 60k and the fluid was pretty dirty, just changed it the other day at 120k and it didn't look quite as bad as the first change. Could be my imagination, but it does feel like it shifts a bit smoother immediately following my changes. I would still change it even if it's the first change at 100k.

I changed it at 120,000 miles and got nothing but improvement out of the gear box (smoother shifting). 94,000 of those miles were all highway. Changed again at 170,000 and looked way better, but again it greatly improved shifting.

Don't forget to reset the transmission adaptations after changing your fluid.
