Smile 2016 BMW F30 LCI 330e iPerformance M Sport /// Loaded --> Lots of pictures included

Today I took delivery of my brand new 2016 BMW F30 LCI 330e iPerformance M Sport. Words cannot describe how happy I am

The car is still missing a few accessories like the M Performance carbon rear spoiler that should arrive to the dealership in a couple of weeks. I took the photos below on my iPhone, so I do apologize for the picture quality. Professionally shot pictures are coming in a few weeks. I'll also be posting a full and lengthy walk through of the car on my YouTube channel in a couple of weeks (address in my signature).

Here's the specs, a *LOT* of pictures below.

601 - TV function -> Didn't see a use for this since cannot be used while driving
664 - DAB -radio -> DAB -radio is only used in a few countries in Europe, of which one isn't Finland

I know I'm very biased since it's my own car, but I really think it turned out great. What do you guys think?

Looking good!

Is that your parking spot for your, apartment, condo, flat, house, ...? If so, how much did it cost to install the charger and how do you pay for the electricity that you use? As in, is that a separate electric meter or is it somehow tied to your home's electric meter?

Thanks! I live in a condo with a parking structure. The little white box that you see on top of the wallbox houses a fuse as well as a kWh -meter, which the co-op measures once per year. I pay 25€ (~ $30usd) per month for the co-op for the electricity and then at the end of the year they will balance the account (send me a bill or better.. some money back). I made a contract with my co-op that lasts until the 31st of December 2029, which allows me to use the charger. All of the type2 stations (and other stations) will expire on the same day, so it makes it easier for the co-op to renew the contracts with possible updated terms to everyone at the same time.

The installation was a breeze. In total it took about 3.5 hours and it was done by a local company. I have a video coming up on my YouTube channel in the near future. The installation was about $800usd including parts, labor and permits and I'll get a tax refund for the labor, so all in all it wasn't bad. I supplied the wallbox, since it came with the car.

Hope this helps!

Mercs have the port in the rear bumber, but I think BMW made a wise choice in putting it on the side. This is since most collisions are to the front and rear bumpers and fixing those charging ports might not be easy.

The only complaint that I have to BMW is the length of the wallbox charging cable. It is just WAY too short and would love it if the ver 2 of the wallbox would come with a 5 meter cable instead of the 4 meter one.

Thanks! A 430e would have been my #1 choice, but yeah, an F31 330e would have been great too. Let's not lose hope yet though, since according to rumors BMW will be pushing a new PHEV out once per quarter. The 740e will come on sale next month, most likely followed by the X1 PHEV (25e?).

Thanks! I was going through the forums like crazy when I was trying to decide on the colors etc. Estoril Blue was my second choice, but I decided to go with a classic black/black combo.

The BMW led door projectors come with four choices of logos, and I agree it looks a bit tacky in pictures, but in live it looks awesome. The comments I've received from colleagues has been positive (in the lines of "howly s**t that is awesome lol"). Installation is a breeze and it takes about 2 minutes.

The part number for the projectors (one pair) is: 63 31 2 289 654

Nice shots!

Looks like you need to make sure you back in far enough or else your charger wont reach.

I think you will enjoy the car.

I am in the US and also wanted a 330e. There were very few available. I have had active cruise control for years on my Prius (minus stop & go function) and wasn’t willing to give it up but also wasn’t willing to not have a hybrid. My other consideration was an Audi e-tron BUT it had less features and I am reluctant to buy a VW product at this time given the defeat function issue. In addition, I also wanted a loaded version. My dealer searched the BMWUSA records and found a total of 6 vehicles in the US or on boats heading to the US with active cruise control. Incredible!

So I reviewed the spec sheets for each of the six vehicles and selected the one that most closely matched my desires. My dealer was able to purchase the vehicle from another dealer a few states away and have it shipped to my dealer in Arizona. I just took delivery a couple of weeks ago. Here are the specs (US and Europe, of course, have somewhat different features, especially in terms of accessories):

About the only features I didn’t get were the parking feature (in Arizona I almost never have to parallel park) and the change in the top speed limiter (I don’t plan on driving anything close to the current max of 140 mph so this feature was meaningless to me).

So far it is working well. My only complaints: I wish the cameras on the back were better for viewing rear cross traffic (I know the triangle will light up but I would also like to see what is happening when I back out of a parking *******; I also wish there were an option to force charging when driving past 50% so I could better manage the battery life (e.g., in the summer in Arizona the precondition function from the phone app is a great feature but requires at least 5% battery life) or even better if there were a software way to set a minimum charge point for the batteries (say 5 miles). I could then drive in auto mode and know that I would have enough charge to air condition the car before returning to it.

Also…a question: If the car depletes the batteries (i.e., the display shows zero miles remaining), do I lose my electric boost capability or has BMW stored enough battery power that the boost will still work?

You will always have eBoost capability no matter what eDrive setting you use. When you are driving with Auto eDrive or Max eDrive and the ICE turns on, you still have 12% usable battery left. You can still get the ICE off by coasting at slow speeds, but at least I've never gotten the battery below 3%.

You can check the battery percentage by scrolling the through the car computer settings (top button on the end of the indicator stalk).

Hope this helps! And congrats on the car, put some pictures on the forum when you get the chance.

Indeed you ticked every option under the sun, impressive!

One thing confuses me though: your shifter is the one from the standard automatic, not the sport automatic. (Sport auto shifter is more rounded - and I prefer the design of the standard one.)

First thing that confuses me is that it's an M sport, should it not come with sport automatic included?

And second thing is, if you have the non-sport automatic, how come you have the paddles on the steering wheel? Do they work without the sport auto option?

Very nice ride!!!
But You CAN NOT charge the car that way. The cable is too tight. In time it will make damage on car slot or on cable itself, which is worse! It is high voltage cable, it could be dangerous. Make the cable loose, to touch the floor if it is possible.

Just out of curiosity... If you're after an electric vehicle and Tesla is the world leading electric vehicle manufacturer, why did you pick the BMW 330e over Tesla Model S?
What are the price difference between these 2 vehicles?

And second thing is, if you have the non-sport automatic, how come you have the paddles on the steering wheel? Do they work without the sport auto option?
That is the sad part, even if you order SAT you do not get the SAT shifter, nor launch control. Not sure why they did not do this. The SAT features you get are the paddles+S1..S8 in the display. I would have loved to get the SAT shifter. I had the SAT shifter retrofitted on my E60. It looks way more nice and also has a more premium look and feel with leather.
