Sport + and Launch Control - Review

So, this probably exists somewhere already, however I would just like to report that if you don't have Sport + and Launch Control already... GET IT CODED IN NOW!.... Best $120 I've ever spent... I went through this guy Steve Ma, from Canada.. he coded my car in like 15 minutes... Here's the site http://www.codemybimmer.ca/?v=7516fd43adaa

I tried to figure out all this coding stuff on my own, managed to get the mirrors and few other things, however it's just time consuming and I had other things to do, so to have him do this in like 15 mins and me be on my way was a life saver.
Things I recommend though, just buy a ENet cable in advance, make sure you can hook-up an ethernet cable to your computer. He'll give you everything else that you need to do.

No, it wasnt really something that was talked about specifically. It would be interesting to have someone make a pass while using these features and then without to see what real world difference they would make (time wise).

I honestly dont have an opinion either way as I dont have these items coded, maybe someone who does could chime in.

I managed to get SAT coded through BimmerCode but havent ventured into expert mode to try Sport+ or LC coded yet. I want to but would need to be walked through it like a child as I dont have any "real" coding experience and am afraid I would mess something up...

Good to hear. I'm a huge supporter of everyone getting 2TB. Not to discount your coder but just simply for those who want to learn or would like to save some money, do let me know if you want to get into coding the car! It's pretty simple once set up and there are plenty of references to keep by your side to ensure you take each step correctly. Otherwise, sounds like Steve is the guy!

If you want to PM me, I can help you out. I haven't used the expert mode for Bimmercode but if you give me an idea of what the interface is like, I'll help you out.

I didn't think you could do SAT/2TB in BimmerCode; one of the modules isn't editable from my understanding. You can do Sport+ however, as I have done it through BimmerCode

Please let me know if there has been some update that now allows you to add in 2TB because I haven't messed around with it since earlier this year

BunkerJ To be clear, I just had other things going on ... and didn't feel like messing with it... the 120 is me buying the cable separately and including it in the over all price, so it's actually cheaper in general. But yea, in the future when I get my 6WB and Paddle shifters, I'll be coming to you.

Oh, I get you man. The program can definitely seem like a lot. Back when I first started coding, most versions of ESys the "Code Defaults" button enabled and as you will learn in coding, you never, ever, ever press it unless you want a trip to BMW. Had me terrified and taking my time. Nowadays most versions have the button coded out so you can't click it haha. On top of that, they have "cheat codes" that do the work for you but I'm still wary of those.

Wait, if 2TB is an option, then that should enable Sport+, SAT, and Paddles.

People without factory SAT/2TB dont have paddles, right?

It did not enable Sport+ on my car... unless Im doing it wrong. All you do is push up on the rocker switch to get to Sport and then again to get Sport+ right?

Yes, that's right. 2TB comes with Sportline and M-Sport models. I retrofitted a wheel with paddles since I have a baseline. But yeah, 2TB encompasses SAT, Paddles, LC, and Sport+. If you don't have Sport+, then it just did SAT and didn't code paddles, Sport+, or LC. In ESys, you can change the "205" in the Vehicle Order (VO) to "2TB" and it enables all of the above! Looks like Bimmercode does it by changing each variable instead.

Ah, I see what your saying... Hopefully the developers will add Sport+ and LC as an option soon.

If not, you could always VO code it through ESys. Takes one value to solve all your problems.

Exactly. For me, it's cool to just teach those who want to learn and they just pass it on and make life easier for everyone and make us all smarter!

Sport+ has been available, I did it back in January. You just need to switch to expert mode and change all of the entries that you would through esys (the longer process, not the one mentioned by BunkerJ in this thread [VO code])

EDIT: If you have the base'st of base models like myself, you will be able to enable the sport display gauges, but they wont work

EDIT2: Its been so long since I've done it....I think this is the list:

Kombi/ 300C /ECO_FDSF /Function /

-> FDS_MENUE_TEXT_1=> menue_3
-> FDS_MENUE_SIGNAL_1=> menue_3
-> FDS_MENUE_TEXT_2=> menue_3

-> FDS_MENUE_SIGNAL_3=> menue_3

-> FDS_MENUE_SIGNAL_4=> menue_3

ICM/3000 Daten -> IcmKod_B_Sportlenkung -> verbaut

Yeah, if you have the option as well, EGS/3000 > Applikation_LC/LC > aktiv will enable launch control as well. If you are using the Bimmercode app, then doing it individually is just what you have to deal with. If you use ESys, VO coding is always the easiest and best for long-term in case you get in there later for more coding.

Thanks guys. Will be attempting this soon.

For what its worth, I already have working sport gauges from the factory. Does that mean anything?!
