Andy's Mineral Grey F30 330d
Hey everyone,
Thought in the current pandemic crisis I'd start my build thread and hopefully brighten the mood a little... So this is my baby, it's a MG F30 330d Xdrive I've owned since Nov 2018 when my tornado red Mk5 GTI was written off. After a few courtesy cars and using my other car I found it a few miles away from where I live on auto-trader and snapped it up quickly. It ticked all the boxes for me and I couldn't let it pass. It's an early 13 plate but it may have been an ex-demo with the spec, I am the 3rd owner: Mineral Grey Factory fitted M Sport Performance Kit Factory ACS suspension Adaptive xenons with HBA Pro-Nav / EBT HK sound system Coral Red Leather - heated front, electric, memory Folding rear seats with through load Electric folding mirrors Auto-dimming interior and exterior mirror pack Comfort Access Sunroof Convenience pack Since buying it I've slowly taken my time and minus a few interior bit of carbon/alcantara I'm happy... for now It's now also got Added coding OEM Reverse camera V2 M Performance flat bottom wheel - Leather/Alcantara with 12 O'Clock stripe, F80 carbon trim and G30 Paddles BC racing coil-overs OEM LCI Rear lights OEM F80 Sakhir Orange Door Handles OEM F80 Carbon interior trim OEM M-performance Carbon spoiler OEM Carbon Mirror Caps Dual 340i exhaust Auto ID Carbon Grills Last edited by AnDub; 02-12-2022 at 12:37 PM.. |

Thanks mate

Sourcing and fitting the paddles and trim cost me an additional £150 ish. Quote:
I was hoping nobody would notice - I was cleaning a spill with baby wipes and then thought I'd try it on the screen. It's all sorted now with glass/screen cleaner. |

Yeah the BC racing coilovers go super low, the front is 30% lowered at present and could go to the floor but it’s convenient exactly how it sits. Maybe another 10-20mm lower at some point 😉 |

Thanks, would highly recommend the wheel/paddle investment - one of the best purchases Quote:
I never scraped on ACS springs. The underside of the splitter has scraped a couple times on massive speed bumps but no real marks left. What's most likely to damage the splitter/skirts are kerbs so I'm very careful when parking or manoeuvring around a tight bend |

Recently noted a subtle whirring sound coming from the rear.
Check and inflated the tyres and it still persisted. Was thinking it’s either worn tyre or wheel bearing. Took the car to my favourite independents last minute after a night shift: Darren Wood in Stockport They got the car up and diagnosed a rear driver side bearing - estimate £260+ vat which isn’t too bad vs BMW prices. #Moneypit |

If you are gonna go for it with a mineral grey, take notes on how it should be done...

AnDub, thanks for sharing. Great car, especially the interior.
What are your thoughts about BC Racing coilovers? The rear looks a little low but your opinion is the one that matters the most. |

I swore I wouldn't go lower than the ACS springs but I had to sort the imbalance on the springs. Quote:

I completely understand, I am tempted to raise the rears slightly as the front would be a nightmare if I lowered it any further to even it up. I love the BC's - I would highly recommend - they ride just as comfortable as the ACS springs at the height I'm currently at, you wouldn't believe it, and I'm sure if they were higher they would be even more comfortable. Done a few mods today
Got my private numberplate on - drilled the front via the top corners but stuck the rears otherwise I'd have to drill through the number plate letters. I'm a bit anal so I got the plate printed at Knights BMW Stoke where the car was first purchased. Also got my hands on a full set of front and rear mint Sakhir Orange F80 M3 inner door handles. Next up... Genuine Alcantara or carbon dash pieces Dual exhaust conversion |

On the mods front, funny you ask , on the day we collected it, I treated her to the M Performance interior trim (alcantara & carbon dash and the carbon door pulls). Done some coding on her car too, M Performance logo on startup, LEDs on reverse etc. Still planning the M performance diffuser and a lip spoiler but not got around to that yet. |

I note you have the optional mcds cups in the interior pictures! I often run mcds cups in their black coffee mode, reckon they’ll give an extra 10%.
Seriously tho, nice looking car mate. 330d is the sweet spot! |

Where did you find the handle covers? Is that red stitching? I have a coral red interior too and the current brushed aluminium handle covers scratch so easily, I replaced one handle last year and already it could do with being replaced again
