Air compressor, airline and tools recommendations
As above
Any recommendations for a good air compressor and line / tools for.basic garage usage (tyre pressures, some tools etc) Ideally portable as won't be fixing a line to the wall or anything like that Cheers

Sealey specialize on car tools. I have few things from them; impact socket set, axle stands, jack, torque wrench, 0.5l syringe; a really reasonable quality, UK company.

I'm sorted for now though; for my needs I've gone for the one of the Hyundai quiet running compressors

For my needs compressor is of those 'one of the last nice to have' things, any particular reason for it? I know its good for painting and blowing dust out of old PC!

My FiL has one and he uses it all the time; he has a small nail gun that it works brilliantly with. I'm about to start building a wood store in the woods for the trees we've just had felled (to split and season for next years winter etc) and I've proper fast-drive 150mm wood screws for the main frame, but for the side panels, I'll pinch his nail gun as that'll just be pallet wood etc

I feel that electric is somehow superior over pneumatic when it comes to tools, especially because its very mobile and some big red tools are real beasts, even for 150mm wood screws.
Sound of pneumatics can be satisfying isn't it?

Aye; I've got my cordless impact wrenches etc that'll do the job needed down in the woods... But I'll build the side panels and roofing up in the garage before fitting them to the wood store

I couldn't be without my compressor now. I've used it from impact tools, spraying, blowing out pc's and electricals, tyres, dusting the garage, to cleaning the car mats and our pram. This weekend i used it to unblock a sink!
They can be noisy things, so would recommend getting a quiet one if you have fussy neighbours or may be using it in the evenings. Most places sell a set of air tools which is a great starter (inflator, blow gun, cleaner gun, 1/4" air line). https://www.toolstation.com/draper-1...rid=&pkw=&pmt= I would recommend upgrading the tyre inflator gauge with a digital one. |
