Super small oil leak, can anyone tell me what this part is?

I purchased my 340ix CPO about a month ago and I started noticing a bit of oil (maybe a dime worth) on my floor of my garage the last two nights. Got under the car today and noticed the following.

Can anyone tell me what part this appears to be? Just want to have a clue before I talk to a service advisor tomorrow.

^ there is a drain plug visible and an axle sticking out of it...

You are also xDrive.

Its definitely your transfer case leaking.

Curious to know what’s leaking. OP you don’t see a leak from up top anywhere? To have it dripping like that means it’s leaking a lot.

No other leaking present, if you look at the bolt from those angles you can see it appears to be leaking out of that lower area, almost like the bolt isn't tight enough. I'll be taking it in tomorrow and will keep you posted.

Just had a oil leak fixed under CPO.

I do agree, looks a bit dark for gear oil but it does appear to be coming directly out of the transfer case (third pic).

Then again, when I replaced the gear oil in my rear differential last month - it was BLACK... not clear like when it goes in fresh.

Interested to hear what the dealer tells OP.

Thanks for the info, this has been really helpful! Trying to get all of this squared away before Bootmod3 for B58 is released.

Figured I would update this thread. Service found a leak on the turbo oil return line and are ordering it in and fixing it tomorrow. Was just a coincidence that it was dripping down on the transfer case.

Are they replacing the turbo as well? A leaking return line points to issues with the turbo and getting old oil out/new oil in. I'd be a pest about it and make sure the return line was physically broken and not leaking from where it connects to the turbo.

They sent me back with the car today while they overnight the return line, they didn't seem to have any concern since the line has a very small leak from the oil pan side rather than the turbo.

They were just going to replace the o-rings, but the technician came back and said the line should be replaced as a precaution (I am assuming based on this comment that it is broken)

Thanks for the heads up, I am going to push on them about the Turbo. I don't really need a failed turbo / reason to get a Pure Turbo any time soon, especially when I'm still under warranty.

OP I know it’s been a while but any update on the repair? How’s it holding up? Recently had an oil leak as well and your post was identical to the leak I have. Going into service today

Taking it to service tomorrow.
