B58 Variants

Anyone heard anything like this?

Not sure if this is true...if so, I am not doing any mods to mine. May just keep it stock and keep her for as long as it will not nickel and dime me. Still a good ride. But, would have been nice to know they are going to make subtle changes to the engine to make it more powerful. Maybe parts can be swapped later to make it like what the are projecting the Z40 M and new G20 3 series B58.

If anyone can confirm there will be engine variants to the B58, please send some more info. Personally, it will help determine the course I take with power mods. Others may feel the same way. Based on the article, the 340 has the weakest B58.

Um, quite frankly, where have you been?

This is very old news. And it's no secret BMW does engine variants. They've been doing this for decades? This feels like when a kid finally figures out it wasn't the tooth fairy actually putting money under his/her pillow.

The article mentions a revised timing chain on the front. Was it relocated from the rear to the front of the engine?

He was so much nicer when he was on the Toyota 86 forum and before he built his Physical Therapy trade into a "medical practice."

S58 is a B58 variant. You would need a new map, forged pistons, upgraded fuel injectors and pumps, high flow cat, water injection to begin with.

I decided to take the high road and not take a swing at the ball of insecurity he threw at me (us? this forum?). I'm still trying to figure out what person lives in their mom's basement that can afford a ~$50k+ B58-equipped BMW lol.

Me actually taking the high road: Yes, OP, it's been confirmed. There are variants that already exist and more that are coming.
